Some effect. Something like wind or train?.

Near where i do many of my favorite nature recordings there are train tracks which can ocassionally be very busy -- and yes, sometimes they have interfered with some of my nature recordings. But, recently i recorded the sound of the approaching train carrying loads of coal. It was around dusk and breezy -- melancholy combination. . . . I really love the echo of the whistle. . . . And as i listened i could not help but think about 100 years ago when trains were more common, amazing how things change. Well, here it is. Kvgarlic.

De treinen met de nummers 4041, 4073 en 4051 gaan via gouda naar rotterdam centraal. De treinstelnummers vind u boven de toegangsdeuren. . This is utrecht station and this train will be split. One part of the train will go to rotterdam and the other part will go to gouda.

An outdoor recording (although it sounds otherwise) of an idling train engine. Includes electric spark-like clicking and a slightly muffled alarm. Not a subway car or an electric powered locomotive or trolley, but the clicks are similar to that produced by an arc welder.

Field recording of a train ride in the western outskirts of paris. I wanted to capture what passengers actually hear when they take that train. It's a bombardier regional train with diesel engine. This is simportant because it gives this particular train a distinctive acoustical fingerprint: you can hear engine bursts (a bit like a bus hitting the gas) no electrical train does that. . . London underground trains have rubber wheels and a characteristic kind of rumble. The doors open and close automatically. Faint tannoy announcement in the background, and a couple of electronic warning tones when the doors open and close. Aldgate east station is huge but has a surprisingly 'dry' and 'dead' acoustic so that it is very quiet when the trains have gone. Recorded on a zoom h2 recorder, front microphones, 90 degree separation. No amplification or equilisation on this sample.
