I found this wonderful 4 foot high waterfall in a small canyon in the shawnee national forest in southern illinois. A slinky spring toy stretched out and plucked once from the end, recorded with a zeppelin design labs cortado impedance-matched piezo contact microphone. The resulting recording is a classic spring-based sci-fi "laser sound" with a massive, lengthy, rumbling decay tail. This was recorded at 24 bit 96 khz. In addition to its use as a sound effect, this waveform works well inside a convolution reverb as an offbeat spring reverb impulse response, provided one has the processor power and ram to support a 2 minute 13 second convolution. The cortado's bass response is exceptionally large for a contact mic, so high pass filtering may be desired if used as an impulse response.

I am standing in the atrium of a community venue. On the balcony above is a group of older people gathering for class reunion.

From july 4th, 2019 by the house. Recorded with my yamaha pocketrak and edited on sony vegas. Tracks were duplicated and the last bang was slowed down. Listen how the sound echoes around the hills. This sound is a smooth square with a 400 hz frequency and the amplitude is 1. I added a 2 echo with 0,6 decline factor. There is a fade of closing down studio.
