Two trains are crossing a railway, first a passenger train, then a freight train. No further traffic noise. Sony pcm m10.

. . Inside an intercity (ic) near stuttgart. Recorded in an almost empty train on a fairly even route section at a quite constant velocity, sitting in a cabin for six passengers with five empty seats, compartment door closed at around 8 pm. Recorded with a portable stereo recorder (zoom) set to 96000 hz and 24 bit.

Long freight train, medium speed. Moving ~20mph with slight acceleration. Recording distance ~50 ft on breezy day.

I recorded one usable minute of passing train, moving slowly through town. I thought the local engine served just one customer, a major metal scrap yard, but the half-dozen box cars on this engine don't fit that model. Considering the overall decrepit condition of american railways, this one isn't bad.

Recorded with tascam dr-05 in 2016 in nashville. Nice clear recording of one long whistle blast, one short, then one long again. Enjoy!.

This field-recording was taken inside of a high-capacity wagon of the ic-train 2374 starting at the station darmstadt in direction of frankfurt. The wagon was rather empty, but two passengers can often be heard talking during this recording. Many different sounds and noises are heard during different driving situations of the train. The recording was started on 4th january 2023 at 10:23 cet shortly before the closing of the doors and the departure of the train in darmstadt. At 01:16 an announcement can be heard. The recording was made with the mid-prize smartphone huawei p10 lite.

Stereo recording of a train arriving and departing at aldgate east tube station, and another train departing on the other track. London underground trains have rubber wheels and a characteristic kind of rumble. The doors open and close automatically. Faint tannoy announcement in the background, and a couple of electronic warning tones when the doors open and close. Aldgate east station is huge but has a surprisingly 'dry' and 'dead' acoustic so that it is very quiet when the trains have gone. Recorded on a zoom h2 recorder, front microphones, 90 degree separation. No amplification or equilisation on this sample.

Train engine recorded in stereo at a siding in ottawa, november 4, 2014, using zoom h4n @ 44. 1khz. Gently highpass filtered to remove a little wind noise, and fade in added.

Recorded with an h2, no modifications. A diesel engine idling on the tracks. I heard the many rhythms in the mechanism and just had to capture.
