I was walking by a pond in a forest and heard lots of frogs making quite a big noise. Recorded with my mobile phone so the quality is not the best.

Recorded waterfall at short perceptive.

Recorded from inside the cormarant bird hide at the ackerdijkse plassen. A nature area where 50 to 60 different kinds of birds live now and what used to be an area where lots of peat was extracted.

Several different species of frogs croaking and droning. Recorded with my iphone at raccoon lake near centralia, illinois at night. There is a big splash near the beginning from something in the lake, which gives it more of an air of mystery, i think.

A small pond in the marshes, very lively with frogs singing their songs in spring. Recorded during sunset with zoom h2n, no editing. Tiny waves lapping the quartzite pebbles (1-2cm diameter) on a beach at lake pedder. Recorded 21 march 2019, 3am, with marantz pmd661 and rode nt55. Exceptionally quiet night, no wind, no other sounds. The gordon river power station was 20 kms distant. Other mechanical equipment or vehicles greater then 50 kms. I could just perceive the electrical hum from the station (or from transmission lines), and so could my partner, but i can’t hear it on the recording. At 1. 30 on the recording you can hear my partner’s soft cough coming from our tent 50m away. The crackles that sound like static come from the quartzite pebbles as they are moved around by the tiny waves. See also "tiny waves lapping #2".

Common terns are pale gray overall with a black cap. Breeding birds have a fully black cap that extends to the back of the neck and a gray belly. Terns comes from lac des chanteraines next to paris. I love listen to terns next to highway. It’s a pretty shocking contrast of noise pollution.

Recorded late summer/early autumn by a lake in rural ontario. I was trying to record the sound of six loons calling to each other, but was interrupted by an aggressive chipmunk who had decided that the lakeside was his and his alone. I recorded anyway. Recorded using an h2n zoom recorder, using the m/s raw setting.

Kings beach on lake tahoe, on the afternoon of 2016-04-04. Recorded on a sony pcm-m10 with windscreen on a tripod right by the water.

This is a clip of me walking outside on a layer of ice. Underneath is water. When i step it sounds as if the ice will give, towards. 1:10 it makes crack and splash sounds/. 1:50 i actually break through the ice and splash into some water. .

This sample is part of the icefield-library. I used a pair of soundman okm2 mics as contact microphones which i fixed to the surface of a frozen lake, then recorded the sounds made by throwing or skimming several stones and pebbles across the ice. Wonderful effects can also be achieved by filtering or timestretching the files.
