I live next to a train track which at night can have a very moody atmosphere, listening to them whizzing by. These are both passenger and freight trains. All the sounds were recorded over the span of half an hour.

Some creatures chirping at night, with city ambient noise in the background. I don't know if they are birds, or bats, or what. I stayed at my grandmother's place for a few days, where these creatures are heard every night, but no one ever saw them to be able to identify them. Recorded with a zoom h4n portable recorder, on the balcony in my grandmother's apartment.

The crowd hasn't arrived, so the night clubs are very audible, lots of bass beats pounding. It's a summer night in the san diego gaslamp district. Recorded in stereo from high up in a hotel window. Some street sounds waft up as well. The other two in this series are different. Both have thick crowd noise. The no. 2 track has an angry crown cordoned off by the police.

Chirping crickets.

This is my first submission to the site. I've recently been exploring sound design a little bit more and thought i would provide something. Here is 15 minutes of ambient sound recorded around 5 am on october 10th, 2011. I used a shure sm58 microphone through a native instruments audio 8 dj interface. Without a microphone amplifier or my active microphone ready to use i ended up amplifying this about 52 db then removed the extraneous noise by 80% @ 40 db using the noise reduction plug-in in adobe audition cs5. 5. Finally, saving the result to wav @ 44,100 hz, 16-bit.

Crickets (at least three different ones) chirping in the otherwise quiet night. Recorded just after dark in july 2009 in the french countryside. Used the front mics of a zoom h2.

Recorded on 16/04/2010 at approx. 6:45pm in the grassed park behind st mary's cathedral in sydney, australia. There is a water fountain nearby, hence the consistent background noise. Recorded with a zoom h2 in 2-channel surround mode, with a windshield. File has not been modified.

I think these are frogs talking to each other from various distances. It's cool to hear their call, and someones response.
