Starting outside a bar where a band is doing an improv music set, then walking down the road passing stalls and people from all around the world. A field recording made as i walked on the north side of bloor st w, near shaw street in toronto on the evening of 29 may 2011. This is a commercial strip with many ethiopian bar-restaurants, outside of which men gather to smoke and have conversation. You can hear some of these as we pass along bloor, as well as the conversations of other passers-by. These sounds are pretty typical of this section of bloor on a fine spring evening. Recorded with a roland r05 and accessory stereo directional microphone.

I recorded this in the middle of a few taverns in monastiraki - athens, greece. The recording features chattering, intense restaurant ambience. Jemaa el-fnaa is one of the biggest squares in africa, and is one of the most vibrant places i have ever visited. Each time of day brings a very different energy, and one will find snake charmers, musicians, dancers and stands selling pretty anything you could think of. Although busy during the day, jemaa el-fna is swarmed with people at night and can quickly become overwhelming. This recording is from february, 2020, using a tascam dr-05x.
