Trying out my new tascam dr-40. Easiest thing to test it on was the wind chimes outside my house. Just a simple recording of the wind chimes in action, with some crickets in the background and a nice fade out.

Also nice quality crickets to pitch shift, not much perceptual traffic in this recording, just a chorus of crickets.

I made this wonderful recording in july 2011 at about 9:00 at night on a hot, muggy july evening. This is the time of year when the insect chorus can get very, very loud. Pretty amazing volume for such small insects. The really loud ones seem to reside in the trees and not on the ground. Recorder used: zoom h4n recorder using its built-in stereo microphones.

All complaints about the sound quality must be addressed to british gas… they are used to getting strange complaint and i don't want them. You either want to use this recording, or you don't, don't bother writing to me telling me why you don't like it.

In tokyo you can actually by bugs during the summer months.

This recording of crickets was captured in my garage in early morning. The chirping is a constant repetitive pattern with just a few temporary pauses. The recording could easily pass as cricket sounds in the open outdoors.

The weather is colder and once again i have an escapee from the great outdoors, performing in silence for the short time left.
