After a long, dark, dreary winter, this sound is a sure sign that the earth in the northern hemisphere is slowly coming back to life. Sound recorded on january 11th, 2017 in southern illinois. Large river rapids running strongly after winter rain. Recorded approximately fifty feet above water level. The river flows and turns through a narrow, high, partly exposed bedrock canyon which likely amplifies the sound of the rapids. The first nine seconds are unedited. The last two seconds have a fade out applied. In summer you can walk where the centre channel is in winter, so this is a lot of water moving swiftly down the cowichan river to the salish sea.
