Walking in a vietnamese village, two old motorbikes with small engine passing by with gentle sound, some roosters crowing in the background, also tropical insects, human voices speaking vietnamese, footsteps can be heard and some extra noise.

When the air is dry and hot, insects (that i believe are cicadas) chirp loudly from every direction while being too small for anyone to spot. Their sound, to me, is a sign and reminder of the hot, dry air of australian summer.

We got wood brought to our house from our woodman, and we brought a few armloads inside because we are already building fires. In the middle of the night, the woodbin started to make a strange noise. I figured it is some sort of bark chewing insect, but i have not seen it yet.

I made this recording about 3 o'clock in the morning and the early morning summer insect chorus was joined by the "iron horse" -- man's ever present reminder of the river of man's commerce. Made with my zoom h4n field recorder using it's built-in internal microphones. .
