This is a field recording in late may, 2009 off the porch of my cabin located on lummi island, washington state, usa. The woods are filled with a cacophony of migrating and local bird sounds. This is a raw field recording it has not been mixed or overdubbed.

This is a recording of the electromagnetic field generated by a local power station (leicester, uk) for a current soundwalk project i am working on. The recording was made using a telephone pick-up coil and a tascam dr-07mk2.

A badger eating peanuts. I have no idea why anyone would want this! :) maybe you need authentic animal eating sounds? i live in a forest, and i leave peanuts out for the local badgers. They are very noisy eaters. I love freesound, so thought i'd upload the sound here.

At least 2 or 3 local species of native frogs in my neighbours pond. Recorded on a sony pd170 camcorder using a pair of sennheiser mkh-416 shotgun condenser microphones in a crossed stereo configuration. About 6 mtrs from the pond. Time was 10:15pm, december 2007 (keep an ear out for the old ford truck passing).

I used a recording app on my samsung galaxy 3 phone to capture a caged parrot talking to itself, outside of a local restaurant. Unfortunately there was also a couple talking - but the parrot is loud and distinctive. A little wind noise. Cleaned up in audacity. And i have no idea what the parrot was saying!.

I recorded one usable minute of passing train, moving slowly through town. I thought the local engine served just one customer, a major metal scrap yard, but the half-dozen box cars on this engine don't fit that model. Considering the overall decrepit condition of american railways, this one isn't bad.

I'm friendly with the clerks at my local 7-11 convenience store in studio city, so i asked if i could leave my mic on the back counter for a few minutes. Interesting door bell when customers come and go, as well as the sound of babies crying, etc. Recorded with: sanken cs-1e, fostex fr2le.

The local library has a printer whose noise i thought was quite unique. I forgot to record it the first time, so the second time i checked out books i made sure to record it. There's a little bit of background noise, but it is a public library. [please let me know if you use my sound in anything!! i'd love to hear where it ends up].

This is a recording of a local (seoul) police car siren. . . Its use here is probably to attract the attention of an illegal parker. . . If they see an illegally parked car they will activate the siren to let the offender know they are about to tag it. . . It gives the driver the opportunity to move it before getting a ticket.

You've been the target of an attack, and you're at the local city precinct. I'd always thought the police had a blanket in the car. Not sure why. One reaches a point where it no longer matters. Getting there can be accelerated if your rescuer arrives without thinking to bring along something, anything for you to wear home.

This is recorded at droescher's mill in cranford nj. The local dam used to power a waterwheel. The wheel is no longer in operation but it's still a nice relaxing spot. A little waterfall is in the foreground, a big waterfall (the dam) is in the background, and the sounds of traffic are audible faintly. I bought a portable sw radio for about £2 from a local flea-market, hoping to pick up some interesting radio stations from around the world and maybe some "spy" numbers stations if i was lucky. Had a quick scan this morning and stumbled on this nice clear station, sounds russian - most likely the end of the broadcast and wrapping up with a repeated code to indicate end of transmission.

This is a large shed housing a hundred goats owned by a local cheese producer. It's an autochthonous goat breed called 'cabra palmera' (goat from la palma island). Listen to their bells. You can also hear them bleat, even munch some straw if you pay attention. . . Alongside with a chatty rooster. Recorded with a sennheiser cardioid dynamic mic onto a sony pcm-d50.

It was my turn to walk the dog and i was really up for it. As i walked a distance, i could see rain coming from miles away. I could also see that i wouldn't be able to make it home before it got to me, so the dog and i took shelter in a baseball dugout at a local park. The roof was sheet steel, the rain was thunderous and it lasted just about eleven minutes. Hope someone can use it.

Recorded on february 9, 2001 in an old appartment complex lobby on the 2nd floor. We held a fundraiser for a local charity and it included a place for people to get together, play board games and an n64 was set up. The sound features three people including myself playing a multiplayer level of donkey kong, people chatting, the heater running, elevator, faint backgroudn music and the sounds of the nearby hallway.

It's not a re-enactment of the blitz; it's a test of the escape alarm at the local mental hospital, broadmoor.

A field-recording taken at a local animal park (germany). It was an early morning in spring and there were hardly any people there yet. The area, where we sat down, was surrounded by trees. Numerous birds were chirping and crows were cawing. A few farm animals like sheep can be heard in the recording at times as well as a one of the caretakers starting a vehicle in the distance.
