I stepped on some twigs out in the woods.

Another recording of rain and thunder, but in some ways a better one. This one is a surprisingly big crack and rumble preceded and followed by a nice sounding rain. I made this by positioning a stereo-matched pair of akg c451b condenser mics in an exaggerated x-y configuration (a wider stereo field) and aiming them out of my open window. The mics went into a universal audio 2-610 preamp, an apogee duet 2, and then ableton at 48khz and 24 bits. I believe i had the mics set flat, and there was no post processing (though i was mightily tempted to upload the much-better-sounding eqed and compressed files) so that you can fine tune it to suit your needs. You'll notice that the loudest parts of the thunder boom clipped the input, but, due to the pleasant and forgiving nature of vacuum tubes, the clipping sounds more compressed than distorted. Feel free to use this sound in any commercial or artistic work! you do not need to credit me.

My knuckles actually refused to crack, so this is a compilation of me crack each finger one at a time. Sounds painful heh? not really.

Created for the play 'exit the king' (wilbury group, 2011). A expressionistic storm, with walls crumbling down in slow motion. I made this by tearing wood and plastic apart and slowing down the sounds and adding percussion. The rain i recorded out my window.

It's a recording of three emtec cd-rs being broken with bare hands. I had 3 audio cd-r that were burned useless. I decided to record their last sounds. You can hear the cds cracking and breaking, me bending them and trying to break them - they were pretty elastic - i had to learn how to crack them. So at first i had some trouble. Around 0:45 you can hear as i'm bending two cds together they squeak and crackle but don't break. The sound is not edited (hence the tag "raw") - no processing was done - i just truncated the beginning and the end leaving you everything you might need. Recorded with a zoom h2 placed on my bed. I was breaking the cds above it. There was a lot of splinters around, you can hear me fiddle with them from around 2:10 on. Originally wav 96khz/24-bit. Truncated and converted to flac with audacity.

We had just damp wood and it was a chilly evening. The wood is not burning yet, a lot of cracks, pops and sizzles can be heard. I can smell it, too. Recorded with a zoom h1 in a medium room, mic held at 30 cm ca. From the fireplace.

This is a recording of eggs being cracked and opened over a pan. It includes eggs cracking and egg yolk dropping into a collection of other yolk. This is repeated a few times.

This year has been a clumsy one, so i now am the "proud" owner of a giant bucket of broken glass. Here's what it sounds like when i take a hammer to it. This first one in the pack is the loudest hit. The samples in this thunder pack are all 24-bit, and i recorded not directly as output from my mixer but routed it first through software compression and saturation and this first one was so loud it normalized itself during recording. None of the other samples are 'normal'. Notice my neighbor's car alarm going off the thunder was so loud. It's not loud in the mix.

I made this by mixing a few sounds of me breaking a rice cake into bits.

I just broke some old brown celery and it left a nice refreshing sent on my hands. Anyways it makes a bone crunch sound i guess.
