An helicopter flies in the sky during a thunderstorm. Recorded on a zoom h2n (ms microphones).

This was recorded from my windowsill facing onto a tarmac driveway in august 2012. There is the occasional tinkling sound of raindrops hitting a metal gate, some traffic noise, the occasional bit of thunder, and some shouts of people getting wet. At the end, raindrops start falling onto the recorder. This is fairly heavy rain by oxford standards; we probably get something like this only a couple of times a year. This fall turned into hail a bit later. Recorded with a marantz pmd661.

This first one in the pack is the loudest hit. The samples in this thunder pack are all 24-bit, and i recorded not directly as output from my mixer but routed it first through software compression and saturation and this first one was so loud it normalized itself during recording. None of the other samples are 'normal'. Notice my neighbor's car alarm going off the thunder was so loud. It's not loud in the mix.

This is a collection of samples to make a really violent storm. This sample is public domain, ignore the cc license for my part of the work. It is based on other samples, so the ultimate license depends on those samples.

I set my mics up just in time to catch this loud thunder crash during a recording session. I aimed a stereo-matched pair of akg 451s out the window in an x-y configuration and ran them into a universal audio 2-610 preamp. There are no effects at all.

The constant, almost non-stop rull of thunder lends an erie quality to this midnight storm in madison, nj. Got popped on the nose with a couple little stones, but it was worth it.

Hey,. I tried to create an acceptable recording of a thunderstorm. Unfortunately i live near a freeway, so it was impossible to filter out the car noises. . . And also the wind blows a little disturbingly into the mic. . . Anyway, the recording turned out better than expected. Feel free to use it for whatever u could need it for. . . . This is a deep bass rumble sound. Created in audacity by generating a brownian noise and band passing it through a steep 15 to 100 hz filter. The reason for the roll off below 15hz is to remove energy that doesn't produce any sound. It just moves the speaker cone and wastes amplifier power, thus it was rolled off.
