This is my naked voice. I didn´t modify anything. It doesn´t have much amplitude, maybe it sounds sad. . . This is a german poem "das gemeinsame schicksal" ("the shared fate"),written by friedrich schiller(1759 - 1805), a great german poet, a friend of goethe. Original text : " siehe, wir hassen, wir streiten, es trennet uns neigung und meinung, aber es bleichet indes dir sich die locke wie mir. "my translation : "look, we hate, we argue, our affectations and opinions drive a wedge between us. In the meantime your hair turns grey. Mine as well. ".

In this recording you can hear book pages being turned manually at a slow but stable rhythm, at the library la fraternitat in la barceloneta. You can hear the page sliding agains other pages, creating a sound that almost reminds us of a knife; and the noise of the page being laid down. At some point there is also the sound of fingers rubbing on the page. Recorded with a zoom h4n pro by kalina and irene, students at esmuc in the framework of the etno3 class.

This was hella tough to make! and i used this program that turns picture into sound. It has paint tools, and you start with a black canvas, you draw up a pattern on it, and depending on the color, position, size, quality, format and translucency of the marks and lines you placed, you get sounds. But it is really hard to get a hang of! this took me 3 days to get it right! please comment and rate, i worked really hard on this! by the way, i'll be making more of these, so if you like it, then i have three more.

A parisian fire truck passes about 150 feet away and briefly turns on its siren to make sure nobody overlooks it. Emergency vehicles in france have either two-tone or three-tone sirens. Vehicles to which one must yield the right of way, such as fire trucks, use the two-tone siren. The three-tone siren (not on this recording) is used for vehicles that do not require drivers to yield but should still be given some priority. Recorded with a zoom h4n hand-held, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, about 150 feet away from the passing truck.

While making an ambient track simulating a fortune teller's caravan, i designed 3 sounds in pro tools by layering and editing presets within ambience and soft pads. They add a bit of magical flare when the tarot card reader turns over a card. This sound can be used for any kind of transition, item acquisition, quest accomplished, or other quick sound effect which needs a light, magical quality. Alarm bell from a bank robbery. Taken from the 1956 film "no road back" starring paul carpenter and margaret rawling and directed by montgomery tully. From my understanding and research of copyright law, this film was never copyrighted, as it came out before july 1957, which is when the british first started to have copyrights for film and broadcast. Any films or broadcasts that came out before july 1957 in the uk are not copyrighted. If it turns out that for some reason i am wrong, i am happy to take this recording down, but i've looked into it pretty extensively and i'm pretty sure i'm in the clear here.

Large river rapids running strongly after winter rain. Recorded approximately fifty feet above water level. The river flows and turns through a narrow, high, partly exposed bedrock canyon which likely amplifies the sound of the rapids. The first nine seconds are unedited. The last two seconds have a fade out applied. In summer you can walk where the centre channel is in winter, so this is a lot of water moving swiftly down the cowichan river to the salish sea. The sound of a construction worker operating a concrete road saw on a rainy day is heard in this recording. The recording begins with the saw already in operation, then is shut off and shortly restarted. He makes a couple of passes on the section of road he is working on and turns the machine off. A nearby siren is also heard at the end, so the shutdown at the head can be used as an alternative. Gear: zoom h6, xyh-6 x/y capsule (120 degree stereo image), rycote windjammer. A beautiful, simple and peaceful soundscape of a late summer day in illinois near an ancient swamp. This recording was made around 8 in the morning on a warm and slightly humid day in late september using the marantz pmd661 and a rode ntg2 shotgun microphone. Do you sense the insects are more subdued than usual? as if they, too, are waiting for the cooler masses of early autumn?? the overall loudness of the birds is also down somewhat, maybe some of our neotropical migrants have already left. . . . Taking with them the wonderful midwest diet and warm memories of raising the next generations of their kind before the swamp turns gray, and cold and inhospitable for raising a family. . The sound of an electric car being plugged in and recharged. The clip starts with the car's recharging flap being opened from inside the car, then fully opened by hand, then the plastic socket cover being opened, then picking up the charging connector and plugging it into the car. There is some clicking as the electric vehicle's cooling fan turns on for a short while. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder at a small, suburban farm. A small, mechanical music box plays, slows down and stops. Synthesized sound with stereo light reverb effect. Duration 0'52". Three turns of a wooden boxed clockwork mechanical key followed by a bright, nonsensical music box tune. As the tune plays, the tempo slows down - gradually at first but becoming profoundly slower towards the end. Tune ends on a melancholic note mid phrase. Could be used as a standalone effect, or perhaps metaphorically as a cipher for the aging process and cessation of life. The clockwork key effect is a rapidly repeating single mechanical clock tick filtered to sound box-like. The sound of the music box tines was created with ni fm8 using four sinewave oscillators, one of which feeds back on itself to produce a hint of metallic ringing.

I found this old c-60 cassette labelled "xx" in a local thrift store. (i like to collect found sound recordings-- sometimes there's some pretty weird stuff!) well, it turns out i found some guy's old tape recording involving him having sex while blasting some awful anne murray cover album. . . The recording is the post-sex dialogue, right after that final song fades out. . . At the end, the woman asks something like "are you going to get your tape recorder?" and the guy seems to become flustered, saying something like "i wasn't recording, it's off!" (i'm paraphrasing. ) i guess he thought she realised he was recording it or something. Anyways, after this, the recording is cut off. You can also hear a toilet flush, and some sort of "squeaky toy" noise during the recording. Recorded direct to soundcard, playing back the tape on a cheap hand-held cassette player. Edited w/ compression to reduce peaking.

Trying to start a 1983 volvo 245 after a stop at a gas station. First we hear the seatbelt warning signal after the driver turns the ignition on. The first start attempt fails. The two following attempts fail because the starter fails to engage with the flywheel, creating a very loud and unpleasant sound. There is some reverberation from the metal roof of the gas station. At 00:24, the driver remarks "he's doing it again!". The fourth attempt succeeds in starting the engine after a rather long cranking. We then drive off and we also hear some squeaking from the steering wheel. Throughout the recording we hear breathing noises from the driver (80 year old man, smoker). The recording was made in the front passanger seat with the window open, that's why there a very noticable difference between the left and right channel. Recorder: edirol r-09, 48khz wave/24-bit, cropped with cool edit pro, re-saved as 48khz wave/24-bit and compressed with flac. No other pp. Edirol r-09 settings: low cut: off, mic gain: low, agc: off. Circle of 5ths loop compiled on a 2015 macbook pro using field recordings. Tempo / time sig:24 bars of 3/4 timing with each bar lasting 2. 5s. Or 12 sets of 6/8 at 5s per bar with a total length of 60s. Filters:hipass pumped at 60hz, -5db. Lopass pumped at 1200hz at -6db. Delay set to 0. 05s at 600hz with a 60% wet mix. Arranged with the tonic 5th as a constant with the last (fifth) 5th in the circle, starting and ending with the tonic. Second 5th enters in 5s, third in 15s and the fourth in 25s as the fifth stops. The fifth 5th begins to fade back in after 10s of silence, which begins the process of the second, third and fourth fading out in that order. The fifth 5th is at full volume as the loop turns, as is the tonic. The mood changes noticeably as each consecutive 5th begins, and changes again as the following 5th joins the loop.
