Recorded about every sound you can get off a chinese guzheng, tuned in d pentatonic. Recorded with blue spark and blue bluebird condenser mics through a scarlett 6i6 interface. No credits necessary but i'd like to hear what you use it in!.
A set of orchestral hits with different instrumentations. The chord c major is played. A: full orchestra with cymbals and bells (*1)b: full orchestra without cymbals and bellsc: no untuned percussiond: col legno strings (*2)e: no woodwindsf: no brassg: no percussionh: only brass & percussioni: only woodwinds and percussionj: only strings and percussionk: only col legno strings and percussionl: only strings and woodwindsm: only strings and brass. (*1) the cymbals tend to sound weird when you change the pitch (in my opinion) so all other samples don't use them. (*2) col legno is when the strings are hit with the wooden back of the bow. These are very dry samples with no additional reverb or any other processing.
Low e string on acoustic guitar scrape slide with pick. Increased pitch, wah-wah effect at 31. 2%, light tremolo, fade and noise reduction used. Recorded with conexant smart audio using at2020 mic, processed on audacity.
A short eastern feeling loop played on a semi-out of tune ukulele and recorded on an audio technica at2020 xlr microphone via audacity. Added reverbnormalised to -6dbnoise reductionh&l pass filtered.
A bunch of piano sweeps with pressed sustain pedal. Free improvisation using essex piano recorded with a sennheiser mk4, using pro tools. Sound first used in a sound collage.
An mp3 recording of an orchestra tuning up to an "a" with a violin leading, starting with the woodwinds and brass, then moving to the string section. Recorded with a black sony ic voice recorder.
Lowest string (f1, gauge 0. 74) playing again, but this time with heavy distortion and no reverb. There is some barely noticeable noise towards the end, picked up by the guitar pickups. Djenty, almost bass guitar stringish tone.
Recorded a guitar being plucked and slowed it down to 0. 1% speed. This creates the nice initial pluck sound. Then copied and resampled the copy and slowed down again by 0. 1% speed, this time preserving the original pitch. This created the ultra-long decay tail. Added eos reverb.
