A great horned owl has asserted permanent visiting rights to a tree above the ranch headquarters at the Big Creek cattle ranch, a huge spread just above the Colorado line near Riverside in Carbon County, Wyoming. Original image from Carol M. Highsmith’s America, Library of Congress collection.

Merced Grove of Yosemite National Park. I tweaked the original image so as to bring out greater detail from the shadows and soften the harsh highlights.
