While making field recordings on the harvest moon trail in wolfville, ns, a bunch of kids rode past on their way to school. A few said hello. The stereo on the bikes going past is nice. These could be used as substitutes for whoosh types of audio effects. Recorded with a zoom h1n with windscreen at 24-bit 48khz resolution and cleaned up in izotope rx. Enjoy!.

This is the sound of a 98cc sachs engine of a 1938 light motorbike. It is one of the bikes in my private collection. The sounds reflect the fuel cock switching, flooding of the carburettor, sucking of the cylinder and two tries to bring the engine to life. The sound in between is the clutch lever. The engine is started by pedaling the bike on its stand. Main engine run features idle to half throttle open. The engine is eventually stopped by using the decompression lever which you can hear at the end. This is a true recording of the actual item.

Kid excitedly yelling where the kid they were chasing was going, toward the end another kid keys his walkie heterodyning with the yelling kid. This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.
