The churning white water of a rushing river cut into a perfectly seemless loop. Recorded on location during a video shoot using in camera microphone and then later processed in my daw. This is recorded at droescher's mill in cranford nj. The local dam used to power a waterwheel. The wheel is no longer in operation but it's still a nice relaxing spot. A little waterfall is in the foreground, a big waterfall (the dam) is in the background, and the sounds of traffic are audible faintly. I was trying to record the brook that runs from a spring in the woods but faintly, then growing louder, a man walked past in a big loop around the dell the brook was in, playing chart music out of a portable speakeri decided to keep speeding in case it was of use or interest.

This is the sound of a storm drain emptying into a gutter. My street floods in heavy rain, giving the storm drain a river-like sound. I placed my roland r-05 on the sidewalk just above the drain. It babbles and splashes like a river, but it is on a residential city street. I recorded it at 2am, so there are few vehicles in the recording though several faintly pass by in the background. Enjoy. :).

A nice, clean, relaxing clip of running water, recorded at dusk in the seattle area. Recording the clip was not as relaxing as listening to it. I had to stoop down very uncomfortably for nine minutes until i got three minutes with no airplanes, and then i had to walk back to my aunt's house in the dark without a flashlight, though woods full of large spiders. . . Midwestern forests can be quite noisy during the early spring when the various neo-tropical migrants invade the woods to get fat of insects and to raise a family. In this recording, made on the bank of a small creek situated in a ravine, you will hear various birds including, northern parula, louisiana waterthrush, an eastern phoebe, a carolina wren and an american robin. Recording made with my handy zoom h4n recorder propped up about 3 feet from the forest floor on a tripod and using the unit's internal, stereo microphones. Enjoy.

A peaceful, droning, relaxing summer soundscape of the midwestern forest. For starters, in the background you hear a river of wind steadily swirling around the oaks, and the maples and the sycamore trees. A blessed northeast wind-friend. The insects take over, and on top of that, a single, solitary bird, i think a flycatcher, softly calls his one-note. Even though this is the time of year that the visitors, those beautiful neo-tropical migrants, fill the woods, after several months of raising of raising a family, they are quiet, resting now. . . Letting the insects signify the passage of time and the slow march to autumn. In about 6 weeks from now, most of our visitors will have left. . . Back down south, their job of raising the next crop of insect-eaters done. . . And the woods, the forest, the nearly-dry creekbed will be packing it in.
