To create this sound i recorded a disposable lighter in my bedroom. To record, i used my aston spirit microphone on cardioid polar pattern and my focusrite scarlett 18i20 second generation (2nd gen) interface running pro tools from my mac at 48khz, 24 bit. I also used a reflection filter to lower rt60 so this sound has minimal reverb to tape. The cable i used was made of canford hst cable and has neutrik xlr connectors.

Recorded with an omnidirectional lavalier microphone, a clippy em172, and a zoom h-5. Denoised with audacity. Cut and normalized in ocenaudio. This sound is created with two sounds that i recorded at the university. First, the sound of the huge door to out, then the lighter (which helps to feel the cold around) and the sound of someone smoking a cigarette. First of all, i cut the two fragment,from two different track, that i wanted for my mix. After, i first worked on the door sound. After i reduced noises, because all seemed better after noises reduced ! i made the same thing for the other sound, the lighter and smoker one. Then i ad the last one at the end of the first one, mix a little bit to make the two sounds seemed natural together. After, i normalized the track. At the end, i saved and export my track !.

Zoom h4n 2018 - onboard microphones. This is an unprocessed recording of the pilot light being repeatedly lit and then extinguished on a natural gas fire globe. This would be perfect for the sound of any gas device being lit such as a grill, boiler, pool heater, water heater, stove, oven, etc. . . I have give you many variations to choose from and provided some audio of the flame once lit that can be easily looped. This is a quick fire sound i made using qubodup's "swing 25" public domain/cc0 upload on this site. It's a bamboo stick swinging, which i layered and toyed with to get the results here. For those curious, here are the steps. * i took the file into reaper, and slowed the file's playback rate to 31% of the original. * i then duplicated the file three times, for a total of 4 tracks. * track 1 (lowish gas-burner sound):- reverb (drum-room impulse response, a medium-sounding reverb with a slight deadness to it. In free impulse loader reverberate le, stretched impulse to 150% and set attack time to 0. 218s). - eq (-8db bandpass near 200hz, rising back to 0 by the 1k mark. Low-pass applied at 5. 8khz). * track 2 (lowest of sounds, like a bassy gas-burner):- chorus effect. That's it. (specifically acon digital multiply, a free plugin, set to the "romantic" preset). * track 3 (not as low as track 2, but closer to track 2 than 1)- reverb (a large hall impulse response. Damaged smartphone screen protector being broken and crushed in bare hands (should've used gloves. . . ). Recorded with behringer b-1 microphone into focusrite scarlett 2i2 3rd gen. Into audacity on arch linux at 192 khz/24 bit. The recording was not processed or edited in any way to retain maximum flexibility to sound artists who will use this as an element. This can be useful as a sound effect for freezing or burning or deep-frying or even rain (when slowed down). Thanks to extremely wide frequency range the recording can be cleanly slowed down up to 25% speed. There's clean frequency content up to 80 khz in the recording. In a few places the mic gain was too much and a pop is clipped, but could still be useful for sound of braking or snapping something (bone?). No denoising was applied - perform your own if needed, though the sounds are mostly free of background hum (a bit of pc noise can be heard in the first minute before i turned down the gain).
