This is a combination of plastic crackling, paper ripping and crumbling, sticks cracking and twisting, matches lighting, and a gas stove. All of which are moderately eqed and mixed in protools, but nothing is heavily processed. What is left is the illusion of a building fire.

I was warming up the fireplace and the flame just really took off. It sounded really epic and sinister so i decided to record it. The menacing vibe was captured fairly well with the recording too i think.

Recorded a lighter being lit using a zoom h6 recorder with an xy mic and foam screen and tripod. Recorded in front of the h6 using a small bic lighter. I recorded different versions of single flick and multiple flicks. Recorded for a school project for a sfx library.

The sound of mexico. A tortilla machine can be heared in every village prior lunchtime. The machine creates flat tortillas out of nixtamalized corn meal which are then baked using gas within the same machine. The metal conveyor causes most of the sound. As my home brew beer is fermenting, co2 is piped off through an air lock. This sound is actually the bubbles of gas being released into a container of water but it does sound like drips. Recorded at 48k on a tascam dr-40 and sennheiser mic. I've added a bit of reverb.

An internal gas combustion engine starting up, and then cutting grass as it moves across the lawn. The clip is recorded from an elevated vantage point about 25 feet directly above the lawnmower. In the background some lawn debris can be heard hitting the blade and getting tossed. The variable pitch motor slows as it encounters heavier grass. It is the first grass cutting of the season and, being on the west coast, the grass is very thick with moisture enhanced growth. Field recording of a train ride in the western outskirts of paris. I wanted to capture what passengers actually hear when they take that train. It's a bombardier regional train with diesel engine. This is simportant because it gives this particular train a distinctive acoustical fingerprint: you can hear engine bursts (a bit like a bus hitting the gas) no electrical train does that. . . It also has a nice roaring drone. Recorded with a zoom h2n in stereo x/y mode.
