This is an example of a low-frequency sound often recorded through the hydrophone on the mars cabled observatory - an earthquake. Mars is located on smooth ridge (36. 7125n, 122. 1869w), west of monterey bay at approximately 900 m depth (http://www. Mbari. Org/at-sea/cabled-observatory/). This magnitude 3. 8 earthquake occurred on july 18, 2016 at 05:53:31 utc (usgs data). It was part of a small earthquake swarm along the san andreas fault, approximately 50 miles east of the hydrophone. All quakes in this swarm, with magnitudes as low as 1. 9, were detected by the hydrophone. We have recorded as many as 40 earthquakes within a single day. The original recording was normalized, and speed was increased 5x to make the low frequency sound more audible. Still, subwoofer or headphones are recommended.

A little test recording i did with my brand new pair of jrf series d hydrophones. The 'phones were placed into the bottom of a large glass, which i then filled with carbonated water.

Recorded on a home made hydrophone in inish oirr harbour. Most of the original recording is below the limit of normal hearing. The sound is translated up in frequency to the normal hearing range.

A large group of atlantic spotted dolphins (stenella frontalis) recorded during a whale-watching boat trip off the harbour of valle gran rey on the island of la gomera, canary islands, spain, 2017-03-11. The first part was recorded with a zoom2 recorder from the boat, you can hear the dolpins breathing. Then the recording was switched to an underwater hydrophone so you can hear the sounds the animals make.

A great underwater sound effect. It is actually the sound of a Gulf ToadFish a rare fish that resembles a toad. Either way this sample is a great example of underwater acoustics.

I deleted parts with handling noise and normalized the sound. For a quick drag and drop in a video editing project and such. It's not perfect and i may have missed some handling noise hence "rough cleanup". But it's a bit better :)if this will be background noise in a video/music, you'll probably lower the volume and the handling noise will become much less apparent. This is the sound of silica gel (at least i think it is; it's a type of sand grains from the cat's litter bin, and the small crystal like rocks are supposedly silica gel) in water. Recorded with a hydrophone (aquarian audio h2a) into a zoom h4n.

A bubbling sound which makes an excellent loop for a background sound effect. Like a scientist's lab, or a wizard's cauldron bubbling away. I've also thought it would be a cool sort of futuristic bubble car kind of sound as well as it floats along. Anyway, use your imagination and apply it to whatever you want. I made the sound by flicking my lips with my finger, but it makes a great bubble sound.
