I stood outside with my tascam recorder late one night to get some of the ambience sounds. This is during the summer, so plenty of insects.

This is a japanese bamboo flute. It is called shakuhachi. Recorded in the summer with the windows open, you can hear lots of little insects in the background. Try some reverb and delay on this one !.

This recording, unlike my previous insect recordings, was taken in an actual forrest on south mountain reservation, millburn nj (as opposed to my backyard). There is a distant airplane in the background (south mountain is near newark airport) but otherwise its much cleaner than my previous recordings, pretty much isolating the patch of crickets. ---two primo em172 capsules -> zoom h1.

I recorded this in 2015 as background ambience for an audio drama. It's nighttime and i went to a small pond nearby.

This is a recording of the six o'clock cicada taken near to the danum valley rain forest lodge in the primary rain forest of borneo. The 6 o'clock cicada is the loud horn type of sound that can be heard in the fist few seconds of the file. Later in the file other insects come in one sounding more like a car alarm.
