This is a field recording at a sea shore. You will hear the waves breaking and occasionally some sea gulls.

A recording taken at 6:03 am - 7:03 am 2/3/2023 in northern wisconsin near a pond and small lake. The temperature is -21 deg f and you can hear the trees make popping noises occasionally due to the cold, which is the interesting part of this recording. There is a distant owl calling early in the recording and you can hear coyotes in the distance. Unfortunately trucks in the distance too. This is hour 854 of a 1054 hour recording (12/29/22 - 2/11/23).

This sample is part of the icefield-library. I used a pair of soundman okm2 mics as contact microphones which i fixed to the surface of a frozen lake, then recorded the sounds made by throwing or skimming several stones and pebbles across the ice. Wonderful effects can also be achieved by filtering or timestretching the files.

Early morning on the dock of a minnesota lake. Sound of water underneath the dock and purple martins chirping. There is a sudden motorboat engine at after a few minutes, but it quickly dies away. There is also the sound of a giant snapping turtle banging against the dock. At the end of the recording there are some wind and microphone sounds.

Close and distant takes. Sounds like a real gull but its actually an automated seagull repeller. Sounds real though!.

Picking up sounds whilst walking through a park in manchester, uk. Recorded on a zoom h4n pro.

I live on a lake and this is what my back patio sounds like every night. They live in the branches of the weeping willow trees that dip down to the water. The sound starts with one frog, then a few join in, and soon there as a chorus of them on all ends of the lake in all tempos going at once. Then when a crescendo is reached, they all start to stop one by one until it's silent again. But the silence only lasts for minute, and then the cycle repeats. I don't know if it's some huge frog mating ritual, or family reunion.

This was an attempt at the ice speed record by a rocket powered snow machine called the arctic arrow. The old record was 247 mph. On this run he goes 241mph but at the finish line he loses control and crashes quite dramatically! the driver, kurt anderson walked away. I have photos of the crash as well if interested. This clip is nsfw due to some language at the end, but it really took our breaths away as he was careening thru the snow on frozen bear lake in manawa wisconsin. Enjoy!.

I deleted parts with handling noise and normalized the sound. For a quick drag and drop in a video editing project and such. It's not perfect and i may have missed some handling noise hence "rough cleanup". But it's a bit better :)if this will be background noise in a video/music, you'll probably lower the volume and the handling noise will become much less apparent. Jet-ski being started on a lake in florida. Microphone on dock directed at jet--ski, jet-ski driven fast away for about 75 yards, slowly turned around, driven back to shore at more moderate speed. Engine turned off when it reaches shore, waves from jet-ski also heard. (when jet-ski reaches shore it is off axis for the microphone). Seadoo 2 stroke engine. Wind can sometimes play havoc with recording --- but, with some luck you can get good wind recordings. Here is a recording of lake waves lapping at the short of a small lake in southern illinois. This particular day, the winds were blowing steady out of the south at 25 miles an hour, with gusts even higher. Recording made with my trusted zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. Of course a foam wind-screen made this recording listenable. Without the foam wind-screen the recording would simply have been an obnoxious, unintelligable roar!also, since the waves were so loud to begin with, i did not have to crank the recording gain real high -- i had the gain only on 65 for this recording. .
