Many find the sound of a prop-plane flying lazily very peaceful --- especially if it is a late summer day against a blue sky on the edge of a forest. Even though i was actually on an outing to record the birds of the deep forest in summer, this plane came right overhead and, well, here it is. I cut out some parts of the "badoink audacity base loop" (id:540779) and did my best to make a simple song using only audacity. It wasn't easy lol, i used several effects from audacity itself: reverb, echo, pluck, distortion, equalization, amplify, change speed, change pitch and tone generator. The end result is not a masterpiece, but it was nice to participate in this challenge, thanks badoink.

Each accidental pattern was mined out of a much longer recording. I noticed these interesting sequences of noises while editing other samples over the years and threw them into a catch-all folder. All of these were recorded with a usb-stick mic so they have a nice lo-fi distorted quality. Try looping any of these patterns and you'll hopefully understand why i selected them.

I bought a portable sw radio for about £2 from a local flea-market, hoping to pick up some interesting radio stations from around the world and maybe some "spy" numbers stations if i was lucky. Had a quick scan this morning and stumbled on this nice clear station, sounds russian - most likely the end of the broadcast and wrapping up with a repeated code to indicate end of transmission.

This is a nice clean recording of hard-rubber soled shoes running and walking up and down metal stairs in a concrete stairwell. It's reverberant, but clean. I hope it's useful to somebody. While trying to get my microphone to work, it was having this unusual feed back buzzing pulsing sounds. Along with a strange noise. (this wasn't my voice, and the file hasn't been edited. ). "who's there?" and the "hello's" are of course me, trying to get the microphone to work. I decided to record it after i felt it was strange. Sounds of a wine glass being hit with a steel spoon and wooden stick, single hits and repetitive fast hits for imitating a bell of sorts. Going into nice overtones in the second part. This is something that my on-line teacher has me playing. I took up the guitar again and even though this is a short piece it has a certain beauty to it. The mic was placed directly inside the computer's chassis with the side door closed. No noise-removal has been applied on this recording. Most of the sound in this recording comes from the maxtor hard drive, as well as the 3. 5 floppy drive, cpu fan, and psu fan. Also includes a post beep.

Autumn is here and, to me, one of the most soothing of fall sounds is the wind blowing through the leaves of one of my favorite cottonwood tress, along with the lazy, nap-inducing sound of a propeller-driven plane slowly floating through robin-egg blue skies. This recording may sound a bit raw, because of the wind, but, i think it is nice to listen to. This was recorded using my handy zoom h4-n recorder and the microphone that i used is my trusty rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone.

A stereo field recording of hundreds of several species of frogs at spring in raleigh, nc. Recorded at a very large concrete stormwater retention pond. The tall concrete walls made a nice effect acoustically. There are a few other faint sounds such as my dog walking around, a bit of wind and a car door as the pond was next to a parking garage. But, the frogs definitely dominate. I recorded this with an olympus ls-11.
