I'm driving a renault duster with manual transmission (hand brake, ignition, start, drive 10 minutes, open windows, close windows, stop, turn off the engine). Recorded on the sony pcm d-100 (it's lying on the front passenger seat).

This long recording was taken aboard the odoriko super view train from ito city bound for atami. You can hear the conductor's announcements, station arrivals and departures, passenger conversations (in japanese) and, of course, the train itself. The recording is unprocessed and made with a stereo mic pair at a 90 degree incidental angle.

Sounds from a steam-train, squeaking and rattling inside with no additional passenger sounds (no one else was in that coach). The recording starts with the train approaching in the station and the squeaking of the brakes and the hiss of the steam. This particular train goes up and down the "brocken" in the harz, germany.

Vintage 1976 cloth top vw bug. I searched the database for this sound with no luck. Luckily i had some friends that could help me out. 2 people (my friends terese and jb) opened and closed the cloth top while i sat in the passenger side recording. Sound of start, idle, accelerating and going through gears, steady state (can be edited and looped for longer scenes) and coast down and shut off. Very throaty sound recorded in-cabin which would be period correct for british cars of that era and useful for in-car scenes behind dialog.

An empty car of the metro of porto, portugal arrives at an aboveground empty station on a january morning in 2022. Recorded with a zoom h1n. This was a no-service subway stop so the doors did not open and there is no passenger noise. The audio travels from one side to the other as the metro passes because of the stereo mics. An excerpt from some in-car driving recordings i made with the windows wound down. My starting point is geotagged. I first turn right out of trail ridge court in streamwood, il, then wait to turn left at the intersection of schaumburg road and south sutton road. I then head north on il route 59. The car is a 1996 chrysler lhs 3. 5l v6 (note the recognizable sound of the creaky chrysler transmission as i slow to a stop). My recording setup was two audio technica at851a boundary mics, mounted upside down on the interior roof and facing out of the driver and passenger windows (with appropriate wind protection), running through a mixer into a zoom h4.

Rear channels of a 4ch-surround recording of the interior atmo of a small airbus passenger airliner (a lufthansa flight from london heathrow to berlin tegel). In the onset, you hear the steady drone of the jets, people talking, coughing, sneezing, newspapers rustling and notebook computers being typed on. Now and then, passengers and stewardesses pass by the aisle. Near the end, a signal bell sounds, and the drone of the jets takes on a perceivably higher tone, shortly after which the landing in berlin is announced, first in german, then in english. Recorded with a zoom h2, the mics (rear) set to 120° dispersion.
