Recorded with a zoom h1 n. It's a high tide and the waves are slowly lapping at the kelp strewn sandy beach. Recorded at rathtrevor beach, vancouver island, on the salish sea. There was a dog barking in the far distance, edited out. I also edited the ending with a fade out.

Stereo recording of waves on a sandy beach, recorded from the shelter provided by some rocks, with a faint engine hum from a large ship in the far background. Tide was about one hour after turn and coming in. Recorded across an estuary. Average level about -18db. Recorded using h2 zoom with front microphones (90 degree). 6db of amplification in audacity.

Recorded on oct 29 2012 at 96k/24bit with a rode ntg-3 into a zoom h4n. I was recording wind ambience as hurricane sandy was currently swirling around. Along this bike trail i found this wooden ramp. Upon standing on it i realized it moved! and better yet it made some pretty cool creaking sounds!.

The high desert (6-thousand feet) of northern arizona, near flagstaff. Walking at midday with the sandy gravel and dry, stunted vegetation crunching. You will also hear the many locusts which seem to be present by the thousands in place. Big blue sky all around, and nothing but the steps, and the crunching of the ancient land. Recorded on october 17th, 2017 near flagstaff arizona. Equipment used: sony pcm-m10 using built-in stereo microphones. The gain on my recorder was at 6.

A field recording of small waves crashing on a sandy shore. Part of the recording includes the waves splashing against a wooden structure. The waves come a fast, regular intervals; this isn't the slow rolling crash of a barrel wave on the beach. There was a bit of wind (generating the waves) which i've did my best to minimize, but if you don't want wind in the recording you're going to need to edit around it. Always curious to see where these recordings wind up, so if you use it drop me a link in the comments if you think about it.

Besides being an inspiration since man first explored her, the ancient mississippi river is also a highway for many coal-carrying barges. For this recording my zoom h4n was on the soft, powdery sandy bank about 60 feet from the river…you hear the gentle, but powerful thrumming of the giant diesel engines as a huge, 200 foot barge passes by. Some notable natural sounds are a very clear red-wing blackbird at 20 seconds in, and again at one mine in and again at one-minute 13 seconds into it. You hear a wonderful, clear splash at 27 seconds into as well. Recording made around 4pm on a warm -- 80 degrees -- june day. Close your eyes, dig into the powdery, soft sand of the mississippi river bank and float away on a warm summer day.

I don't want to go into detail in this public forum, but someone incredibly important and incredibly young in my life and my wife's just passed away. I am thus looking for an extra long recording of a peaceful "forrest ambience" to play during the good-bye ceremony. Something with some birds and perhaps some wind through the leaves,. . . . Currently the ceremony is planned for april 6th so i would need this before then. I know i can look through freesound, but i would like something specifically recorded with this in mind, something we will be able to listen to later as well, remembering this important and sad time in our life. . . It is one of the largest shifting sand areas in western europe. The wind can blow undisturbed in many places, resulting in an ever-changing landscape. By purchasing it in 1921, it has been protected for 100 years and we can still enjoy this brabant sahara today. You can roam freely on the sand plain. So there is plenty of room to explore extensively. Marvel at the submerged trees, enjoy the chirping field crickets and quench your thirst at one of the many cafes or restaurants on the edge of this nature reserve. Walking, cycling or on horseback: it's all possible here. With the wind in your hair and the sand in your shoes. You may even come across the sheep herd. The sheep keep the heath short and eat away saplings. This is how they keep the area open. The loonse en drunense duinen still has 270 hectares of shifting sand. That sand creates rather extreme conditions: the soil is dry and nutrient-poor. The difference in temperature between day and night can be as much as 50 degrees celsius. This ensures a unique flora and fauna. The animals and plants have adapted or feel at home in drought, aridity and temperature fluctuations. Sand sedge and various lichens, for example. And the viviparous lizard, sandpit beetles and sand bees. All species that love sand. In the last ice age, the polar winds blew sand from the north to brabant, where it remained in thick packages. For a long time this sandy plain was covered with primeval forests. Until the fourteenth century the trees were felled by people. They used the wood as fuel. The bare plain was filled with heather, where the farmers grazed their cattle. This intensive grazing and the sod cutting of the soil depleted the soil. This gave the sand free play.
