It's a winnie the pooh stocking that sings "we wish you a merry christmas" when you push it, but i decided to take one of the batteries out and see what happens. The result is rather funny. Recorded on november 27, 2011 with an ipod touch. Converted to wav with audacity.

Nerf hammershot shooting without a dart in the drum. (dry fire). You can hear the air that would usually push the dart and some rattle caused by pulling pack the hammer. Recorded on sound devices 833 & neumann tlm 102.

Using an inflated toy balloon in a bath full of water to create some interesting sounds. The balloon hitting the top of the water almost sounds like a drum, and my fingers on the wet rubber could be useful in a cartoony squash and stretch capacity. Recorded on a tascam dr-05.

This is the sound of someone shaking a kinder surprise egg trying to guess what's inside (like in the tv advert). This is a simple sound that i recorded with a zoom h2n handy recorder. I just cut the extra recording parts, and added a noise reduction effect to clean it in audacity.

A one-year-old american baby girl fusses and cries over a dropped toy. Various perspectives as the baby turns away from the microphone, puts her hand in her mouth, etc. Recorded in 2011 at 48khz / 24bit with an electrovoice cl-42 shotgun mic into a zoom h4n portable recorder.

My 2 years old jack russell terrier shanti, plays with her favourite toy, not giving it to me and fighting for it, running after it in the apartment. You can get a lot of growls from this record, some breathing, licking & sniffing included). Recorded with rode ntg-3 & roland r-26. .

I have an old toy called a zube tube which is a cardboard tube with a plastic cup in each end and a long spring stretched between the cups. When you shake the tube it makes the weirdest sounds! in this recording i am holding and shaking the tube vertically. You can hear the spring oscillating.

This is not a perfect loop!it was sampled by me inserting a jack over and over into a casio sk-5. I did the beats by ear, while listening to a metronome set to 100 bpm. It is extremely close though. You don't have to site me if you use this sample in your work, i don't care.

These samples come from a gakken sx-150, a small analogue synthesizer kit that was released in japan 2008 as part of the gakken hobby magazine series. The synth became very popular also outside of japan, mainly because it's a low-cost analogue synth with a great sound that offers lots of possibilities for circuit benders.

Original drum sample recorded straight from an original vintage yamaha psr-36 digital synthetizer from 1988. Best quality you can find online. Also, some samples aren't half bad. Use creatively and add some fx's. No eq or fx. Just some denoising.

This is a recording made in the province of rieti in italy, in the room of my apartment where i am doing a flight test of my jamara toy drone without sensors. In the background you can hear the songs of renato carosone that i put on my tv and also my parakeets that flutter from time to time. This recording was done with my iphone connected to the shure mv88 plus stereo microphone.

A czech guy named "staney the robot man" who lives in prague build this little synth. It's completely handmade and consists of a bunch of analog circuitry that when powered creates strange oscillations in current. It's also built into a seseame street toy saxophone. This set sounds like a robot talking. If chopped up and sequenced you could do a lot with it.

A musical santa plush with old, half-used batteries that i recorded 16 years ago. Sorry for the loud sound, the bitrate and the sound quality. I thought the file would still be usable. I don't even remember the equipment used for the sound recording, i think it was an old caraoke microphone connected to a pc with the means at hand.

All spoken word sounds as well as specific things like laughs or animal sounds are in different sounds. They range from real sounds like cowbells and car horns to blings and ascending synth sounding noises for a correct answer. (some tags describe one or two sounds in a long list, so listen to all of them if you're looking for something specific).

Recorded with lifecam hd3000 you can hear kids playing outside my window, the neighbors' stereo in the apartment next door, their air conditioner, their vacuum cleaner after they shut down the stereo, they're tromping around and hitting the walls, a few distant birds, and one toot of a train about to come into town. It's forbidden for them to blow the horn inside city limits.

I asked for a fabric shredder because i couldn't find one, and i knew my dearest would knock himself out trying to. He didn't either but he did have one made, probably at considerable expense. It's a cute little portable unit, i think made of a modified paper(?) shredder, powered by a geared motor from a battery-operated power tool. It's probably a dangerous little work of art. So we're getting dressed in the bedroom after opening gifts on christmas morning, and i decided to try out my new toy. Good conversation, mechanical whir.

This is a small jam i recorded myself on my diy spring reverb circuit i've built for a friend. It sounds really good with music. In this session, i've only used coninuous triangle/sine/square waveforms and jammed on my for pots: input gain,hp filter cutoff, feedback amount, output gain. I'm sorry if the recording clips sometimes, but there's a big dynamic so i couldnt see how much loud it was. Feel free to take it and use it for sampling or sound design layering.

A slinky spring toy stretched out and plucked once from the end, recorded with a zeppelin design labs cortado impedance-matched piezo contact microphone. The resulting recording is a classic spring-based sci-fi "laser sound" with a massive, lengthy, rumbling decay tail. This was recorded at 24 bit 96 khz. In addition to its use as a sound effect, this waveform works well inside a convolution reverb as an offbeat spring reverb impulse response, provided one has the processor power and ram to support a 2 minute 13 second convolution. The cortado's bass response is exceptionally large for a contact mic, so high pass filtering may be desired if used as an impulse response.

These are random samples i recorder and am such a lazy i don't want to sort them out. . . . 1 - could be my modified boss ds-1 distortion pedal (i call it the violent ds - 1) (w/ 3 extra capacitors and a transistor or two) going throught it is a boss dr 550. 2 - a yamaha portasound pss - 270 which i cut the fm synth traces too via switch (that was a pain in my ass also!). 3 - a very scary leap frog kids toy named professor quigly. 4 - a speak and math. . . . . . . 5 - sum yamaha thingy i don't know i just call it my raver machine. . . . . . It looks kinda like a cool t. V.

A small, mechanical music box plays, slows down and stops. Synthesized sound with stereo light reverb effect. Duration 0'52". Three turns of a wooden boxed clockwork mechanical key followed by a bright, nonsensical music box tune. As the tune plays, the tempo slows down - gradually at first but becoming profoundly slower towards the end. Tune ends on a melancholic note mid phrase. Could be used as a standalone effect, or perhaps metaphorically as a cipher for the aging process and cessation of life. The clockwork key effect is a rapidly repeating single mechanical clock tick filtered to sound box-like. The sound of the music box tines was created with ni fm8 using four sinewave oscillators, one of which feeds back on itself to produce a hint of metallic ringing.

A little scary sumthin' sumthin' i made in garageband for a thing called victors crypt. It starts with a steady drumbeat before the main melody comes in, played on a kid piano. For some reason toy instruments are the spookiest. Woohaa!i put some chords in a lot of reverb between that repeating melody. Think it would suit perfect to anything dark, eerie, adventurous, creepy, big, suspense or anything you can imagine. Feel free to use it as long as you give me the credit for it/write me as composer. I found this old c-60 cassette labelled "xx" in a local thrift store. (i like to collect found sound recordings-- sometimes there's some pretty weird stuff!) well, it turns out i found some guy's old tape recording involving him having sex while blasting some awful anne murray cover album. . . The recording is the post-sex dialogue, right after that final song fades out. . . At the end, the woman asks something like "are you going to get your tape recorder?" and the guy seems to become flustered, saying something like "i wasn't recording, it's off!" (i'm paraphrasing. ) i guess he thought she realised he was recording it or something. Anyways, after this, the recording is cut off. You can also hear a toilet flush, and some sort of "squeaky toy" noise during the recording. Recorded direct to soundcard, playing back the tape on a cheap hand-held cassette player. Edited w/ compression to reduce peaking.
