This sound is completely analog. I recorded the sound of a person who was walking on the street. I chose to leave the noise of the street so that we understand that the person walks outside. I used the effect "amplification" to reduce the noise of the street and increase the sound of step. I made a fade in opening and closing, so that we have the impression that the steps are moving towards us then moves away. At the same time, i played with the pitch of the sound to accentuate this effect. Recorded in 2005 on an unusually chilly september day, while walking in downtown ottawa, friends and i came across a ceremonial event at the war cenotaph. I thought i'd record the sounds of traffic, people and background music and my timing was good as the choir launched into a sombre and touching rendition of danny boy to remember fallen soldiers of war.

I recorded this in the middle of a few taverns in monastiraki - athens, greece. The recording features chattering, intense restaurant ambience. Jemaa el-fnaa is one of the biggest squares in africa, and is one of the most vibrant places i have ever visited. Each time of day brings a very different energy, and one will find snake charmers, musicians, dancers and stands selling pretty anything you could think of. Although busy during the day, jemaa el-fna is swarmed with people at night and can quickly become overwhelming. This recording is from february, 2020, using a tascam dr-05x.
