This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). When a flow occurs, you know that the sound is very high and it invades all surroundings. It happened in april 4, 2021, during our worst period in the the global covid-19 pandemic. Plent of people, vehicles, multiple speakers and so on in a street. I'm writing in the exact moment police came to repress, but in my conclusion only education can solve city problems, not repression, not paliative atitudes. I think this is interesting to share it here, as a cultural manifestation, showing that when the state fails, everyone fails. This is disrespectful at all, but i try to look it as a construction of city. In a country where its president goes for a for a swim at a crowded beach amid 200 thousand pandemic deaths, how can i criticize suburban people?. I'm not conservative, i like the kind of music playing known as"brazilian funk" or "funk carioca", this is our culture, even if i do not participate actively. For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.

This is a section of a recording i did when a school nearby had a field day. There's a decent part in the middle, where the wind sound is practically gone. I used some filters to take out the wind sound as much as possible, but the high end whistling of the wind is still a bit audible. Feel free to use this in anything!.

This one prominently features the sound of water flushing through an outside kitchen drain into an alleyway. Common suburban evening birdsong can be heard clearly throughout with distant traffic noise in the background. Recorded on a summer evening in june 2016 in southern england using a rode nt-4 microphone in a rycote lyre shock mount, marantz pmd661 and edited using adobe audition.

The sound of birds and distant thunder awoke me from a long nap, and so i sprung off the couch and grabbed my recording equipment, dashing outside just in time to record the arrival of a thunderstorm. Over the course of this clip, the storm gets closer and closer, until it starts to rain with increasing intensity. The clip is nicely unmolested by wind, and contains a nice background of birds. A tremendous thunderclap is featured in the middle, three minutes in.
