Ils Infinitely Loud Silence (Ils)

This, my dear friend, is ils - infinitely loud silence. Play some other sounds and then play this, and you'll know why i call it this way. It's created by a bug present in lmms, a free program for electronic music production. Actually this sample can't reproduce the ils phenomenon, that creates a dc offset so big, that it outnumbers any other signal getting out of the same audio interface and the result is silence. It's a silence that is masking other sounds. Mind-boggling. Nasty bug. All this sound can do is cause some distortion, probably because 24-bit sound can be only as loud as 0db. 32-bit floating point should be able to get louder, but still i don't think any sample file would be able to reproduce this product of error.

A recording of strong north winds gusting through a neighborhood. You'll hear leaves ratttling, the flapping of a big tarp, dogs in the background far away, and, one of my favorites, wind chimes. The jingling wind chimes really get going towards the end of the recording. Occassionally a loud car drives by. Empty Bottle Sputter

This is the sound of trying to squeeze the last dregs of liquid hand soap from a 60-oz plastic container. It has no excuse for sounding this rude. Recorded opportunistically under non-ideal circumstances (including noise floor and clock ticking in background), using the built-in mic on an iphone 7. No processing was done except splicing multiple takes into one file, and transcoding to wav.
