These sounds are produced by the instrument called rainstick. It has little pebbles inside that produce some interesting slide noises when held upside down or inclined. I hope they can help you in one of your projects.

These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.

Often the snail shell by engraving or ornamented metal versions. Sometimes it is also a mouthpiece of metal used. With hindsight bubbles - similar to a horn or a trumpet - creates a distinctive, penetrating tone. The snail horn is used in different cultures and different symbolic meanings. A#2 glockenspiel note in mono, recorded using an akg c3000b and straight into my 'puter. Part of a set. The glockenspiel is a 3 octave educational type, not abig orchestral one, so the octave numbers supplied are actually about 4octaves lower than true!.
