As the earth continues to slowly tilt the northern hemisphere away from the warmth of the sun's rays, the pace of life in midwestern fields slows down. This recording was made at 3pm on wednesday october 5 2022 in a huge, 70-plus acre, abandoned farm field. A field bordered thousands of acres of state-owned forest. The soft peeps of the few remining birds, grubbing around for protein-packed insects is the soundtrack. At 5 minutes into this recording a delightful, friendly exchange between two birds as if they are saying "hey, let's help each other find food before this field is blanketed with snow at cold. ". At 7:05 in this recording a truck slowly drives by, softly crunching gravel and the driver slows down to witness this annual, melancholy autumnal change. Recorder: zoom f3microphone left channel: deity s mic 2smicrophone right channel: sennheiser mkh 8020. Enjoy.

Besides being an inspiration since man first explored her, the ancient mississippi river is also a highway for many coal-carrying barges. For this recording my zoom h4n was on the soft, powdery sandy bank about 60 feet from the river…you hear the gentle, but powerful thrumming of the giant diesel engines as a huge, 200 foot barge passes by. Some notable natural sounds are a very clear red-wing blackbird at 20 seconds in, and again at one mine in and again at one-minute 13 seconds into it. You hear a wonderful, clear splash at 27 seconds into as well. Recording made around 4pm on a warm -- 80 degrees -- june day. Close your eyes, dig into the powdery, soft sand of the mississippi river bank and float away on a warm summer day.

A complete trip on métro (subway) line 9 of the paris subway system, from the alma-marceau station to the havre-caumartin station. Starts with descent into the métro station and ends climbing up the steps back out at the destination. One train is allowed to pass, at about the 1-minute mark, as we wait on the platform, and an announcement giving the times for the next trains can be heard. The ride on the following train begins at around the 2-minute mark. There are two loud sounds between about 9:10 and 9:20 and some loud low-frequency wind noise at around 10:40 (as we leave the métro station and return outside), so beware. Recording with zoom h4n, originally 96 khz/24 bits, uploaded as mp3 320 kbps because the wav was so big (almost 500 mb).

A very clean recording (no recognizable voices) of the moment a 737 comes in for a landing at raleigh-durham international airport (rdu). You will hear the sound in flight, the landing gear go down, touchdown, and the airplane begin to taxi back to the terminal. At the very moment the flight attendant keys her microphone, i cut the recording. This keeps you legally safe to use this file. Note: touchdown is at about 55 seconds in. . . Enjoy!. - christopher c. Recorded on the shortest day of the year at the edge of a lake where the wind was gusting from the south at 15 to 20 miles an hour. At the beginning you hear some geese in the distance. This recording was made using my sony pcm m-10 with it's internal microphones set to level 5 input volume. I actually placed the recorder, carefully, in a crook of some branches in an oak tree about 5 feet above the ground---very near a big clump of dead and brown oak leaves. . . . This gives you that wonderful sound of the wind hissing through the leaves.

Gem pathescope 9. 5mm projector, unit #1191, made in england. Recorded on a marantz pmd661 with a rode nt4 stereo mike. The gem is a variable speed projector, controlled by a rheostat. Speed for this recording was about 9 fps. Microphone was facing the gate of the projector, 10 cm away. Audio begins with power being turned on, ends with power being turned off. The end of the film leaves the take-off reel at 7. 10, exits the gate at 7. 22, and becomes free of the last roller at 7. 30, when the motor speeds up. The speed and audio-level variations during recording occurred naturally.

I made a script in python with three balls bouncing around at different speed. When the ball hits a wall a beep is played. The slowest bass plays a 110hz beep. The middle ball a 220hz beep and the fastest a 440hz beep. Python can’t play two beeps at a time…sort of random “music”… you control the rhythm with the ball speed.

Coffee shop in tokyo. Lots of background noise and conversation. Staff is cleaning. Espresso drinks are being made. Two-pole circuit breaker recorded held in my hand, also pressed against a wooden board for more resonance. And some rattling mechanical handling noises at the end. Useful as electrical switch click. 96 khz, 32-bit float. Tlm-103 mic straight into pro tools. The only processing is a mild gate. At least it has a good noise floor.

Sound of a single droplet. The standard sound for like a leaky faucet or a drop hitting a puddle or bucket of water. I actually made this sound with my mouth and tapping my cheek at the same time, but it is a very convincing drop sound, which can easily be looped at the speed you want for that "continuous drop" sound in the background.

This is a recording of very low frequency hum of a steel mill. The sample has been low pass filtered. The main frequency is about at 25hz. The sound was recorded some distance away of the steel mill area, where it mixed with other sounds as a constant hum, which could be felt in body too at certain spots.
