Thunder.

I needed the sound of newspapers being tossed by a delivery boy for a performance of "our town" i recorded this using a zoom h2, while tossing newspapers against my house. There are two similar recordings for two different acts. I filtered out background noise using audacity.

I saw this huge storm brewing, so i put my laptop next to an open window, thinking that i might record a nice atmospheric recording of rain and light thunder, and i caught this thing, no more than 500m away. I had the sensitivity turned all the way up, and the microphone i am using isn't the best, but someone might get a use of it :).

This is an alert signal from a real fire station. I tried to make a sound how they wanted it, and what i believe what was needed. Few things like 1) start softly to ease it when waking up in the night 2) some pauses for better recognition of speech or other signals heard same time 3) good cut trough background noise or whatever, stressless but good cut trough 3) limited length before announcement.

A fire alarm beeping at 3:00 am. It decided to beep, so i decided to publicize it and let the world hear it's voice. This was recorded in an apartment complex with the fire alarm just outside the door. It always does this at random parts of the day, and it's not that annoying but, it happens.

This is an old recording from the year 2001 of a thunderstorm occured on 5th may 2001, at about 2am in pécel (nieghbour town from budapest), hungary. It was recorded by a grundig cr120 and i used audacity to remove the main background noise.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. Recorded at the office when it was raining. I didnt have any specific tool to record the room so i just brought my cell phone and i started recording. There is some noises when dragging the phone, but it you edit on audacity it wont be much of a problem.

5th of august 2015 distant thunderstorm thunder sounds in pécel, hungary, recorded by sony stereo dictaphone. It produced insignificant amount of rain.
