Stereo ambience of people passing by at the kulturforum in berlin. This is a large open concrete space next to the berlin philharmonic hall. It's a warm summer evening and the berlin philharmonics have just finished an open air concert. The recording starts about 15 minutes after the end of the concert while everyone is leaving the place, maybe about 1000-1500 people. The crowd is generally in a happy and talkative mood. There are lots of international folks and tourists, so you'll not only hear german, but also english and lots of other languages. After six minutes or so there is also a police siren in the background. Recorded with a zoom h6 (xy mics). I made this binaural recording while standing on a suburban street in the middle of a thunderstorm (in my socks) carrying an umbrella. Short field recordings made with my iphone in august 2013 while visiting family on one of the many small residential islands located in beaufort, south carolina (of forrest gump, the prince of tides, the big chill, and the great santini fame for any movie buffs out there). The loud buzzing is the ear-piercing mating call of the cicada insect, a sound that's hard to escape in the sultry summer months and semi-tropical environment of the south carolina low country. You can also hear tree frogs and i think maybe some birds too. Unfortunately there's also a little ambient whine of an air conditioner at times and me tip-toeing quietly around on the crunchy gravel dirt road. . . Because i didn't realize my iphone would do such a good job of picking up the sound of my footsteps. :). Third in a series of 3 consecutive recordings of the sound of summer birdsong in a suburban english setting. This one prominently features the sound of water flushing through an outside kitchen drain into an alleyway. Common suburban evening birdsong can be heard clearly throughout with distant traffic noise in the background. Recorded on a summer evening in june 2016 in southern england using a rode nt-4 microphone in a rycote lyre shock mount, marantz pmd661 and edited using adobe audition.

I recorded this at late night in a rural german area at summer, approximately 150 - 200 meters away from the party (the party took place on a big and open field). The wind was blowing away from the people towards me, which is the reason, why you can hear the people well, even though there were trees between the people and the recording micorphone. Mabe you can hear a few cars very far in the distance along with the near taxis, picking the people up to take them home, too.

Some crickets recorded at night near a small gas station off a highway in nebraska. Sound is stereo and loops more or less seamlessly if needed.
