My first upload to freesound is a thunderstorm recorded in gateshead, uk, next to our open bathroom window. Some lovely thunderclaps and rain. Recorded on a zoom h5. There are also some household sounds swimming around in the background, doors closing, dishes clinking etc; i think you can hear the radio or something very faintly towards the end -- but there's plenty of clean usable thunder and rain in there. Incidentally i often use this type of thing in my long-form instrumental music, produced under the name conelrad. I have a podcast of album-length instrumental music which comes out every other week, called conelcast. Check it out wherever you get podcasts or at conelrad. Co. A sharp crack of thunder from an approaching storm, so there is no rain or wind in the recording. The kind of strike which starts fires in tinder.

Finally rain after a hot dry july 2018. 10 mins rain with 3 large thunder claps. Not recorded as loud as i should have, it was dark. I used an h4n through an open window.

Also used a few patches from a symsynth to build the thunderclap and some of the rain effects. Added some delays, reverb, compression and eq as well as splitting several tracks and offsetting them to create a spacial soundscape.
