My first field-recording:. Yet another summer storm in the suburbs. Recorded with a zoom h5.

I was out walking my dog late one night when i heard and recorded an amazing mockingbird channeling through a variety of imitations.

Field recording recorded on zoom h4 using internal mics set to 120 degree xy stereo pair. Wind sock and high pass filter to remove excessive wind rumble. Recorded in a nature reserve just outside the town centre of bury st edmunds, suffolk, england on 19/02/2019. Recorded on a breezy day, features distant industry sounds, close rustling of branches and leaves, birdsong, a few gentle guests of wind and distant motorway rumble.

Some atmos i took for a recent video. I didn't edit out me fumbling with the mic (tascam dr07) but it's a solid 2 minutes of outside sounds. You can hear little drops of rain and a wind chime, as well as cars driving through puddles down the street.

This is a slightly too-loud recording made on a mid-afternoon weekday bus trip in suburban shanghai. One can hear the automated announcements, the voice of the ticket collector and other passengers, the traffic outside and the sound of the bus accelerating and braking.

This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). When a flow occurs, you know that the sound is very high and it invades all surroundings. It happened in april 4, 2021, during our worst period in the the global covid-19 pandemic. Plent of people, vehicles, multiple speakers and so on in a street. I'm writing in the exact moment police came to repress, but in my conclusion only education can solve city problems, not repression, not paliative atitudes. I think this is interesting to share it here, as a cultural manifestation, showing that when the state fails, everyone fails. This is disrespectful at all, but i try to look it as a construction of city. In a country where its president goes for a for a swim at a crowded beach amid 200 thousand pandemic deaths, how can i criticize suburban people?. I'm not conservative, i like the kind of music playing known as"brazilian funk" or "funk carioca", this is our culture, even if i do not participate actively. A spring morning in central texas experiencing a heavy rainfall and distant rolling thunder.

A field recording i made. The original file was about 3 hours long, i just cut a cool piece out and uploaded it :: gear: one røde nt-1a (right channel) and one shure 8700 (left channel; eq-based hiss reduction) :: setup: both microphones were mounted next to each other with an offset of about 2. 5 meters :: the preamp for the nt1-a was the on-board preamp of the yamaha mg16/4 mixing console. Light traffic passing by during a prolonged spell of rain. The wet road is clearly audible. Planes pass overhead occasionally and trains can also be heard in the distance. Recorded with a zoom h2.

For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.

I made this binaural recording while standing on a suburban street in the middle of a thunderstorm (in my socks) carrying an umbrella. There are some nice lightning strikes, and birds can be heard in the background. ----recorded with two sony lavalieres -> a zoom h1 (with home-made felt windscreens).

The sound of birds and distant thunder awoke me from a long nap, and so i sprung off the couch and grabbed my recording equipment, dashing outside just in time to record the arrival of a thunderstorm. Over the course of this clip, the storm gets closer and closer, until it starts to rain with increasing intensity. The clip is nicely unmolested by wind, and contains a nice background of birds. A tremendous thunderclap is featured in the middle, three minutes in.

This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. This is a sound of a mercedes benz 709d mini bus driving on a really hard icy road. It was a rattly old bus, everything squeaked and rumbled on it. I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called. I used my canon powershot a460 digital camera to video this, i simply took the sound from the video. I was lucky enough to get a good run on this with just a few poeple on board, so there wasn't any other sound apart from the train, the only time you here some movement of feet is when the doors open.
