Short 7 second clip from a 120 minute recording on palm sunday in the city of warren, mi. This clip takes place about 30 minutes before sunrise, bird next to my recording chirps then flies off in-between condo buildings.

When the air is dry and hot, insects (that i believe are cicadas) chirp loudly from every direction while being too small for anyone to spot. Their sound, to me, is a sign and reminder of the hot, dry air of australian summer.

To me, nothing says the great outdoors like owls hooting in the early morning forest. This was recorded at 6:30a. M. On saturday august 29th, 2015 in the shawnee national forest in southern illinois. , in a low spot near a stream in deep woods. Equipment used: marantz pmd-661 and two sennheiser me-66 shotgun microphones. Record volume level was 6.

This recording, unlike my previous insect recordings, was taken in an actual forrest on south mountain reservation, millburn nj (as opposed to my backyard). The morning after christmas 2022 on hood canal. There was a king tide that came up over the stone wall. A king tide occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are in alignment and the combined gravitational pull causes water levels to rise dramatically. I took this recording right next to the pilings where the dock is connected. You can hear the water hitting the metal and wood as it knocks it around. The water eventually washed over the road.
