A recording from my local park on a hot summers night.

This recording was made alongside a camera trap survey while at loagan bunut national park in sarawak, malaysia. It's a quite nice little bit that we didn't expect to ever find a use for, but came across this website and through i would share it. It lasts a good long time with pretty consistent sounds, so best wishes on it's use. Digital clock error through s/pdif port of m-audio 1814 sound card. Very common.

First, i thought it was a night-bird but i could not identify it clearly and i never heard an owl shouting like that. Then i understood why when i found on internet a sample exactly like mine. . . Now i know it was a barking roe deer (capreolus capreolus). "when alarmed, it will bark a sound much like a dog" (wikipedia).

A robotic space insect.

Insects (i think mostly crickets) make this noise. It sounds so. . . Infernal!, or futuristic (electronic for sure). I recorded this (with my old zoom ii recorder) one summer night in tlacotlapan, at the southern mexican state of veracruz. All this happened for hours inside my hotel room. So you can imagine what kind of night i have. Wonderful memories.

On my walk home in south east portland, oregon there was a tree full of crickets. It was about 11 p. M. And a very warm night.

Actually made from a note played on a trombone. I left out panning as these are great sounds to play and experiment acoustic space with.
