I got into a small crawl space under a concrete road, which seemed to be an old sewage tunnel, and recorded the sound of a car driving overtop of me. It's a gentle rise and fall of a car engine. You can hear me let out my breath as the car drives away.

Supposed to be a knife thrust and stuck into a wall, but could as well be a sword hitting a wooden table or anything else.

Walking around my neighborhood with a luggage/trolley. Sometimes continuous, but also with bumps and stops. Different surfaces. Some cars and planes go by, you may need to cut around them. Rode ntg2 + zoom h4nno processing.

Slow deliberate walk up a set a concrete stairs in a concrete stairwell. Lots of reverb. Sounds a little ominous, like someone is coming to get you. Recorded indoors on a samsung galaxy s3 using recforge.

This sound is of a loop of chains being manipulated, along with footsteps. It is meant to invoke a sense of imprisonment or creepiness, but you may use it as you please. It was taken using a zoom h4n field recorder. The chains were 1/4 inch thick, attached to picnic tables, the footsteps are of skate shoes on concrete. 2014.

A mixer truck, freshly loaded is mixing (extremely dry) concrete in the drum as it spins on the frame of the truck! i held the mic to the exterior of the steel drum as it spun. So there are underlying cat engine noises in the background. The concrete is so dry, its load enough to over power the majority of engine sounds.

They are building a new residential tower opposite ours in rotterdam, the netherlands. In this recording, the builders are pouring concrete on the 25th floor to create new walls. Sony pcm-d50.

The "concrete cello" pack is a collection of scraping, scratchy and droning improvisations on the cello focussing on the creation of sounds to be used as base materials for future compositions. They were originally recorded in 2019 to be used in as sound design elements for the documentary "hotel regina" by director matthias berger for which i composed the music. Part of the impetus of this sampling session was to create cello sounds that would be remiscent of construction machines. (if you look on the geotag you can see the machines, well, sort of). I strapped an h6 to the frame of a rickety fixed-gear bicycle with no shock absorbers on either wheel. I rode this around a shipping container yard near ahmedabad, on a gritty surface made up of interlocking concrete tiles. Close mic-ed.

A builder working on my house, he is using an electric chisel on a door frame. Faint voices can be heard of neighbours later on. Recorded using zoom h4n.
