Pulling apart and throwing / dropping / breaking / smashing chunks of ice from the frozen water pooled up over the cover of my swimming pool. The breaking ice sometimes sounds a bit like shattering glass; at other times the sound is more crunchy and wet.

Water comes to a boil in a kettle, is poured into a mug, is stirred with a metal spoon, then is dumped in the sink. The neighbors were hammering something, so once or twice i re-started an action. . . .

Bits of broken glass being scraped and cracked against various surfaces. Can be hard to listen to at times. Use in a scary movie or anywhere you need a disturbing, uneasy effect.

These sounds came from a session where i needed to record very gentle clinking sounds with a tea set. The setup is an mxl3000 mic through a neve portico preamp. They are very soft by design.

Lightly rub your wet finger along the rim of the glass. 4. As you rub the glass, you will hear the "singing" sound of the glass. You may have to re-wet your finger periodically and/or adjust the pressure of your finger on the rim of the glass to keep producing the sound. 5. Striking a silver goblet then making it sing by rolling a wooden dowel around its edge. The first part is the top of the goblet (lower pitch) and the 2nd part is the bottom base (higher pitch). Followed by various strikes and rolls. Microphone: iphone 3g.

First test recording smashing bottles, mic levels were too high and it peaked. It sounded neat with the distortion so i thought i'd share. It's unedited, so you can hear people moving and laughing before and after the smash.
