A neutral, static room tone - with some reverb og distortion. I have used it in the background for radio shows, when recorded in a studio that's too silent - but of course mixed down a lot so you can just barely hear it.
We've recorded the sound produced by writing in one of the whitebords which are in the libary of the poblenou campus of the pompeu fabra university (upf).
This is just ordinary white noise. . . The algorithm for this noise was created two years ago by myself in c++, as an imitation of noise generators in supercollider 2.

1:10 field recording of exterior environmental wind in the hedgerows in the daytime, with some day birds in the distance. Edited to remove intrusions, and not recorded with a balanced stereo pair of mics.
Medium sized rocks being dragged, scraped, dropped on other rocks on top of a cloth and a wooden table. Recorded on an h2n zoom recorder, m/s raw setting.
This is a sound to emulate cracks on a wall as they happen or rocks falling off a cave or earthquake aftermath. Simply by holding my olympus ws600 against a lamp with beeds and crumbling hard plastic on the other then i uploaded the file to audicity and added the gverb effect to make it sound from a short distance and converted the file to mono as well :).
