Recorded on 23rd july 2013 with an olympus ls-10. This was about 04:30 in the morning and has been edited with audacity (two takes have been put together). The location is essex, uk.

A strong rainshower hitting an awning, with the gentle "shhhhhh. . . . " of the rain falling on the new, fresh green, pliable leaves of a sugar maple. Some good thunder as well in this recording. Recording made in april of 2017 at 6:00pm in the midwest. Gear used: sound devices 702 with audio technica bp4025 stereo microphone. Enjoy.

This is a collection of samples to make a really violent storm. This sample is public domain, ignore the cc license for my part of the work. It is based on other samples, so the ultimate license depends on those samples.

Cacophony of rain, birds singing and water from a gutter dropping into a square plastic box.

This are noises of a rain gutter during a rainfall. As this was recorded on my balkony there are strong reflections of the adjacent brick walls. Recording gear:- 2 x behringer c2 small diaphragm condenser microphones with cardioid polar pattern- focusrite scarlett 2i4 audio interfacesoftware:- sound forge pro.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. Toilet flush edited to sound like hail (with some background water noise). Recorded on iphone 11 and edited in adobe audition.

Finally rain after a hot dry july 2018. 10 mins rain with 3 large thunder claps. Not recorded as loud as i should have, it was dark. I used an h4n through an open window.

My first upload to freesound is a thunderstorm recorded in gateshead, uk, next to our open bathroom window. Some lovely thunderclaps and rain. Recorded on a zoom h5. There are also some household sounds swimming around in the background, doors closing, dishes clinking etc; i think you can hear the radio or something very faintly towards the end -- but there's plenty of clean usable thunder and rain in there. Incidentally i often use this type of thing in my long-form instrumental music, produced under the name conelrad. I have a podcast of album-length instrumental music which comes out every other week, called conelcast. Check it out wherever you get podcasts or at conelrad. Co. Recorded using a zoom r 16 and a shure sm 81 mic, the only problem with the sample is me saying baap re(which means o my god) at the end, which fortunately can be edited out, the sample can also pass as a gunshot :).
