Wall clock ticking. The sound is a field recording of a german made fauch wall clock. You hear the tick-tock sound of mechanical movement in a quiet room. I used a zoom h4n digital recorder to record the stereo sound. Enjoy. C gillespie sound library.

A recording of a high school class. Students were working on a sound effects project on computers, but generally allowed to talk as they worked. This is maybe 18 students, with the mic about 10 feet away from the nearest student, mic towards one side of the room, pointed towards the middle. We also have ac on, and an av cart that has a fan on, plus a wall clock, some of which you may not be able to hear over the students. Mic was the zoom h1 set to record a wav file, record level manual, low pass filter engaged, with the quality settings at the highest values. It was then put through audacity to amplify it to the highest allowable levels without distorting, and spit out as a wav.

University of exeter, january 2014. Starts external, outside the atrium. Very windy, trees thrashing about, students walking past, talking and laughing. At 1:00 moves inside through revolving door. Internal of the atrium - large glass ceilinged area full of students and staff.

Gear: zoom h6, xyh-6 x/y capsule (120 degree stereo image), rycote windjammer, mounted on a tripod, late 1800s wooden trunk, various wooden toys/items. Please feel free to leave feedback and ratings. I was surprised this still worked. This is an old ibm selectric ii typewriter, with correcting tape, the “quieter” selectric at the time. It’s about 80 pounds, a real back-breaker. The carriage return bell is broken, unfortunately, so the best you might hear it is rattling due to the belt vibration. Recorded with a tascam dr-05, without the low-cut since i wanted a beefy sound. Placed direcly above the roller, about 12 inches away. I swapped the channels in audacity to match perception & sampled down to 48khz. Description: i roll in some paper, type a few paragraphs from some copy, and roll it out when i’m done. Man, can you type fast on these machines!.
