I had left my recorder near the woods for a 20 minute recording of the natual sounds. When i reviewed the file i found the attached sound where a flying insect had buzzed the microphone.

Me spraying a bug. No bugs were harmed! applied pitch bend, tempo and noise reduction. Recorded on conexant smart audio and at2020 usb mic, processed with audacity.

A fly buzzing around. The thumps are the fly bumping into the wall and a lampshade. This file is dry, so there's some low-frequency garbage from my holding the mic and following the fly. A high pass at around 200hz fixes that. Feel free to use this for whatever you want. 100% public domain.

Sound of an insect. Synthesized in "reaper" from a noise generator and lfo modulation. Can be used as a character's sound in a video game ;).

An up-close recording of a single cricket chirping. I recorded this with a shure beta 57a microphone, at my house, with the mic a few inches away from one of my housemate's crickets (don't ask). I used cubase and izotope denoise to remove noise artifacts, as well as a low-cut to remove unwanted low freqs. Recorded in mono but exported in stereo, so both the left and right audio channels are the same.

Very annoying synthesized cricket sound. Made with sun ra in mixcraft 7.

A swarm of cicadas in the distance. They come up from the ground every seven years.

Distressed cicada on the ground clicking or trilling very fast and loudly. The insect had dried and flown, apparently, but for some reason landed in the wrong area in the late afternoon on a very hot day.

My fender guitar amp made some weird sounds the other day, when i switched it on. Quite musically i think:).

This recording was made alongside a camera trap survey while at loagan bunut national park in sarawak, malaysia. It's a quite nice little bit that we didn't expect to ever find a use for, but came across this website and through i would share it. It lasts a good long time with pretty consistent sounds, so best wishes on it's use. This is a short file recorded in the ne suburban area of mpls. , mn. It is what the pond in our back yard sounds like after dark in may. Recorded with the built in mics of a marantz pmd660 at a distance of 30 yards from my deck.
