For the sound i would like to create like an "extraterrestrial signal", i took a "sifflet" and i play with it, add opening and closing effect, reverse the sens and finish the set with a battery sound to put a bit of "suspens". . .

I recorded one usable minute of passing train, moving slowly through town. I thought the local engine served just one customer, a major metal scrap yard, but the half-dozen box cars on this engine don't fit that model. Considering the overall decrepit condition of american railways, this one isn't bad.

A 10 minute recording using a nokia 5800 xpressmusic with a sony electret condenser mic attachment at aldershot railway station in hampshire, england. Includes the sounds of a class 458 juniper leaving the station and a class 450 arriving and leaving, with several announcements including one about future track maintenance.

Train passing by a pedestrian crossing. First the alarm bells, then the train (type: passenger train, intercity 2) passes, finally the beams open again. Tascam dr-07x. Some interference, probably from the power lines. Location: hämeenlinna, finland. 21st october 2021.

Recorded via tascam dr-100mkii 48/24railway carriage interior. 5 minutes before departure. Occasional people noises and background music.

Sitting on a diesel-powered, two wagon local train in the midsummer heat.

This is about 2 minutes total. It is of an approaching long freight train passing about 100 yards away in it's entirety. Train was doing around 45 mph. There are no other background sounds, no traffic, no crossing alarms, no street noise, no airplanes, no people, etc. There are three diesel electric locomotives in the front, then about a mile of freight cars, then one diesel electric locomotive "pushing" from the rear (it almost sounds like a jet engine!). Recorded alongside the tracks in open west texas desert! recorded using a panasonic dvx200 with a rode shotgun mic & deadcat. Audio extracted from the video file.

This was recorded on march 19, 2019 as i was waiting to board an amtrak train at pen station. Includes announcements, luggage and people. Recorded with a shure mv88 attached to an iphone 8.

Rubbing my finger across a kitchen knife. The knife has a smooth part and a part with little indents, so there are sounds with each sample. Recorded with my lumix g7 camera with rode video micro attached to it.

Cabbage ripping sound effect great for zombie effects!.

This sound is 50 ms, 2000 hz pure tone with double linear fadeout through it's whole length. Sampling rate of 8 khz is already an overkill (nyquist frequency is at 4 khz, while all energy of this sound is present in narrow 2 khz frequency range). Created with audacity for use with ardour 3, a free and opensource daw for linux and mac (http://ardour. Org).

Recorded in my small apartment bathroom because i just need to start recording stuff to get my sound library going. Recorded with my zoom h4n using its built-in condenser mics at a 90 degree xy coincident pattern. Bonus cat meows toward the end (translated as "daddy, what are you doing? why are you in the bathroom with the door cracked??").

Recorded on samsung galaxy aceheavy rain and loud overhead thunder.

A satisfying slow-drip of water droplets. Recorded in an old shower with an h1 zoom. There's a click near the beginning, and a section near the middle where the droplets speed up, so if you want to use it for ambiance a little editing may be required.

Train engine recorded in stereo at a siding in ottawa, november 4, 2014, using zoom h4n @ 44. 1khz. Gently highpass filtered to remove a little wind noise, and fade in added.
