Found a big bush covered in white flowers with loads of bees buzzing all over it. Some good buzz noises here but unfortunately quite a bit of mic handling noise and the sound of the leaves brushing against the mic as i pushed it in close to try and stir up the bees a bit. Luckily i didn't get stung!.

Stereo recording 48khz 24bit from the top of hangman's hill in the malvern hills, uk. Recorded for world listening day 2014 on 18 july in the early afternoon. Recorded with rode nt4 and sennheiser mkh416 through sound devices 442 into tascam dr-40. Additional processing in sound forge. The nt4 had quite a lot of top end hiss that i didn't really notice until too late.

The frequency analysis reveals a peak around 20khz. Through all of the track? almost. What is that? (when i converted the file to mp3 the peak disappears. . . ) one clue could be that i use the filter as vcas too?i have applied normalisation, compression and limiter in audacity. I got hit by a spinning firecracker that decided to run into me while recording my other firecracker sounds. In the middle of the clip it sounds like someone stepping on old wood planks. Maybe someone will have some use for this sound.

So many bees fly around the flowers. It sounds like a very dangerous swarm, but they are all very friendly. :)recorded in 2020 during the summer months.

We were doing a shoot for a chinese television station and i let my canon 7d pic up some sounds, edited some of the pops out and there you have it. Some bees in a meadow with some churping birds near commercial hives in the late spring. Good for ambient background sound with bees everpresent. In the fraser valley, british columbia.
