These recordings were made during a location-scouting trip i took some time ago to southern germany, where we had a look at some cathedrals to shoot a documentary. I took the time to record a few atmos with my handy h2. . . This is a very touristy sort of restaurant in the center of the historical town of speyer, featuring people talking in various languages, restaurant noises and, last but not least, no background music!.

Recordings of a fairground in a small town in germany, starting the day's business. Wide angle shot of the fairground, somewhat later. All the rides are working, some early customers are milling around, you can hear german "schlager"-music playing and a spooky voice beckoning people to the haunted house ride. Recorded with a zoom h2, mics set at 90° dispersion.

About 50-60 peole aged 20-40 are sitting at tables, drinking and talking in different languages, some of them ostensibly in austrian dialect german. . . In the background are the sounds of a peaceful european city in summer, with little traffic in the immediate vicinity. This is a precise emulation of the audible time signal broadcast by radio station wwv of the nist in the usa on shortwave. This recording was produced via a program i wrote that emulates the time signal and recreates it from scratch, but it conforms precisely to the specs of the real signal. The only part missing is the voice announcement of the time, which, in the real broadcast, is made during the last fifteen seconds of each minute (which is why the tone changes to just clicks during that time). There are two minutes in the recording, but it should be easy to loop it or otherwise modify it for other durations. Since this audio file was computer-generated from scratch, it contains no noise, but the real broadcast has some static and noise, especially at large distances from the transmitter in colorado. Generated by special software / 48. 1 khz 16-bit stereo.

I created this spoof auto switchboard for when i get spam calls on the telephone in the uk, simply start the file playing when you do not recognise an incoming call by the caller id, place your phone close to the speaker and let it run. The intent is to make the spammer caller think that the number is just an auto switchboard and hopefully remove the number from their database.
