The sound of my system unit in my bedroom starting up, recorded with a boblov v91 mini voice recorder.

This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. I hope you enjoy this sound. :) please note, anybody is free to use this sound, you don't have to credit me, but it would be fun to hear how you use my sound if possible. :) here is the link to the type of licence i use. Large car interior start & drive; speeds up.

Getting in, starting, and driving my 2011 peugeot ion electric car. The door opens, i put on my seat belt, insert the key, start the vehicle (there's the ready-to-drive beep), i put the car in drive, release the parking brake, and drive away. (update-june 15th, 2022. The truck is still running strong). :-) this is my ford ranger with a 170 v-6. I enter, shut the door, put in key, click seat belt, put tranny in neutral, pump gas, start and warm it up a bit. Please comment on what you may use it for. Thanks. :^).

I can picture this sound being used at the start of an audio documentary that discusses the morning routine of someone who has to wake up early everyday. Maybe even the start of a film; this loud and obnoxious noise is an instant attention-grabber.

This is a recording of an office paper shredder starting up. This model of paper shredder has a button that you can press to run it briefly in reverse, in order to clear paper jams and clean the blades. If the shredder hasn't been used in a while, it takes several seconds to start, and makes a cool noise while doing so. The click at the start of the recording is the switch being pressed. You then hear the motor struggling to start up for about five seconds, and finally it comes up to speed. The high-frequency crackling you hear, particularly once the motor is running smoothly, comes from bits of paper still rolling around in the blades (easy to convert into a campfire or rain). There's another click at the end when the reverse button is released. I uploaded this because several parts of the recording sounded like they'd lend themselves to morphing in various ways to create other interesting noises. Recorded with a hand-held zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, with the built-in mics, positioned about six inches above the rotating blades of the shredder.

Recorded with the mic on the rear bumper of a 1974 mgb sportscar. Start, drive off, up through gears, steady state, and shut-off. Very throaty period correct exhaust note appropriate for british sports cars from the 30's through 80's. Recorded outside of car so would work best for driving follow shots, drive by's, or car entering/leaving a scene. Think of a fighter pilot driving up in his mg car to the airfield in battle of britain; yeah, that kind of scene!.
