Field recording of a harley-davidson motorcycle starting, idling and revving; recorded at scuttlebutt's biker bar in greenfield, wisconsin, usa, using an mxl 990 on a boom.
Some old v8 engined cars in a parade, idling and occasionally revving. They have open headers, meaning they have no mufflers and either no or very small exhaust pipes, therefore they're loud and "burbly"! there is some chatter from people standing on the parade route as well. Recorded on a tascam dr-44.
An old hard drive starting up. The idle sound is from the hard drive itself and not the computer's fan noise. Some minor editing has been done to remove a slight bass rumble from the computer's fan. Recorded on sony pcm-a10.
Another recording of the idling train engine, this time with the spitting sound more towards a struggling pneumatic (air) valve. Also the alarm sound is more of a continuous cycling engine hum.
The sound of a car engine idling i grabbed from an old video i recorded. It didn't perfectly loop so i copied the sound, reversed it, and put it after the original sound (making a ping pong effect).
The sound of the belle of cincinnati riverboat engines idling on the ohio river while docked. Gear: zoom h6, xyh-6 x/y capsule (120 degree stereo image), rycote windjammer, mounted on a tripod. Please feel free to leave feedback and ratings. I would love to hear how you put the sound to work.
An outdoor recording (although it sounds otherwise) of an idling train engine. Includes electric spark-like clicking and a slightly muffled alarm. Not a subway car or an electric powered locomotive or trolley, but the clicks are similar to that produced by an arc welder.
A recording of a starting eurocopter ec-135. Distance ca. 20m. Due to noisy surroundings i could only use the sound starting from idle to takeoff. Recorded with the stereo mic of my h6-zoom, handheld.
Starting a 2001 grand marquis and motor idling. A zoom h2n handy recorder was used to capture the sound and basic editing was completed in garageband. (created by jacob f. And aaron w. In digital production 120).
