It's a sound you usually can hear in a horror movie. It makes your blood freeze if it wasn't ice already. It has medium attack and very long decay. The sound's timbre is similar to what a metal gong could do when hit inside a cathedral. Synthesized with zynaddsubfx inside lmms. Rendered as 96khz/32-bit. Edited and normalized in audacity.

The origin of this recording is a hob on the highest heat level recording slightly hot. Be very careful if you are doing this as fire is obviously detrimental to organic life and the microphone does not like to be on fire. An "acidized" (marked with loop/cue flags) sample. I imagine a furnace combusting away. Rate-shifting this sample (pitch/speed) can give you variations in your daw (digital audio workstation). This sample in particular feels appropriate for use as a background furnace sound or if sped up, a flamethrower.

Short field recordings made with my iphone in august 2013 while visiting family on one of the many small residential islands located in beaufort, south carolina (of forrest gump, the prince of tides, the big chill, and the great santini fame for any movie buffs out there). The loud buzzing is the ear-piercing mating call of the cicada insect, a sound that's hard to escape in the sultry summer months and semi-tropical environment of the south carolina low country. You can also hear tree frogs and i think maybe some birds too. Unfortunately there's also a little ambient whine of an air conditioner at times and me tip-toeing quietly around on the crunchy gravel dirt road. . . Because i didn't realize my iphone would do such a good job of picking up the sound of my footsteps. :). This is a great recording from my digital police scanner of the atf and u. S. Marshal's doing a short, but detailed road surveillance here in houston. The atf starts out talking about a place to meet, then they follow the target suspects vehicle. Once they lose sight of the vehicle, they decide to let the marshal's signal device, planted on the vehicle, track it the rest of the way. This is a fine example of the new p25 digital (some encryption used) radio system that many federal and local law enforcement departments are starting to use. Enjoy!.

I created this instrumental while i was messing around on audacity one day and i actually used it to record a song called "erbie bowser" feel free to look it up on youtube. The instrumental includes whistles, claps and a voice loop all performed by myself. The only un-authentic part added was a risset drum. I walked through my neighborhood on july 4th, and many people were setting off fireworks outside their houses, so i recorded it. It was pretty chaotic. I walked through a park, which had a wet ground that you can hear me making my way through in some parts of this audio. Numerous fireworks go off, close and far, with crackles, sharper bangs, and more. You can also hear people yelling in the distance. Use this how you like, i do not need credit.

This wa maybe my first attempt at doing something that i would describe as steve reich-y (not knowing very much about steve reich) which is a method i got slightly obsessed with. Basically (for me) it was creating a short measure for a few instruments (apso uploaded here) but then layering them, slightly and increasingly out of time, so that they go out of phase and create a huge trippy musical canvas that you couldn't have predicted from the opening measure (well i couldn't, but i know nothing about music).
