Most of this recording is of insects in a special field of native wildflowers at a dog-park on south mountain reservation in new jersey. Near the beginning of the recording, you can hear, in the distance, a dog at the dog park yelping in pain very loudly, perhaps after receiving a bite from another dog. Independence day fireworks display, recorded july 2004 in tewksbury, ma. The noise floor on this one is not so good, but there are a fair number of very nice explosions, pops, and whistles. The sound of quad cycles being ridden in the distance is also audible, particularly loudly starting around the 15:00 mark.

For the recording, i used the tree-ear method, holding the microphones on either side of a tree, which results in a very wide stereo field (considering the capsules are omni). It was recorded in my backyard on a winter day which was actually more like a spring day.
